Thank you for the valuable advice. It should have been made possible to access the belt from below without removing the baking compartment. This machine was designed by geniuses (anyone more intelligent than me, and there are lots) but built by morons (anyone less intelligent than me, and there are lots).

Great video! Now in 2024, those batteries get replaced by Nickel Metal Hydride (NiMH) which is a drop in replacement for NiCd, but they don't have the memory effect of the NiCds.

This is a very helpful video. THESE MAY BE LITHIUM ION BATTERIES! BE VERY CAREFUL TO NOT SHORT THE BATTERY + & - LEADS AS IT COULD LEAD TO A VERY HOT FIRE! I suggest that you place electrical tape on the individual leads as you move the battery pack around. You may need a pair of "nippers" or "side cutters" to trim the battery pack leads to fit within the circuit board slots. Again...BE CAREFUL not too short the leads! A set of miniature TORX drivers will also help. Be sure to align the on/off switch as you slide the circuit board in place and secure it. Test it before you close up the shaver. Then, charge the batteries and keep an eye on the razor to make sure that they charge and don't catch fire. Again lithium ion batteries are not friendly if they catch fire! I am a HAM radio operator so I'm used to working with soldering irons, etc.

Suggestion for those without soldering equipment: Silver epoxy works equally well for connecting the cut tabs of new battery and old battery, without touching the circuit board at all.

Will the bottom plastic cover separate from the main plastic housing if just the five screws are removed ?
@TheWestlaker
@TheWestlaker Жыл бұрын
No it won’t. There are 8 or 10 clips at the bottom holding them together, shown at 31 seconds. You need to take the pan and the metal liner out to gain access.

Why does the manufacturer make it so hard to access the belt? Clearly they want you to throw it in a landfill and buy another. Fucking A-holes. I'm reducing my original rating for this model for this sole reason.

I'll be cutting a section of the bottom plastic piece large enough to access the belt. It's absolutely ridiculous to have to completely disassemble something to access it's belt. What a crap design

It's not a crap design, it's intentional. So you go out and buy more, hopefully the same brand and model because, otherwise, you know it's a good low budget machine.

It's a pain in the BUTT to take apart the bread maker. Short cut if you don't mind.... I ended up taking a "cut-off" tool (check your tool box) and just cutting part of the bottom off. Cut around the "raised" area only (not the entire bottom as it is not needed). Right there in front of you is the belt. Easy to change.. time after time. I am sure this will void any warranty, however, if you really want to take the machine apart... go ahead and I hope that you don't have a brain aneurysm in the process :) NOTE: no wires exposed only belt and drive. JMO.

Had this machine for 4 years probably used it most to make pizza dough; usually make decent bread but the top always...always caves in no matter what I do. Now the belt broke and what a pain to remove all those screws to get at the belt. Review companies...NEVER EVER talk about ease of doing this job which is like a brake job on your car...it will need to be done someday. The good news is that I now have a replacement motor, circuit board, and bread pan and this is still the cheapest maker out there. Oh, I get around the crappy loaf by just using the machine for dough and then putting it in the oven in real bread loafs and letting the bread to the final there. Not going to spend $200 for a fancy one that probably has the same problems...but I expect most have an easier way to replace the belt... at least I hope. Thanks for a good short no nonsense video without going into a long dissertation on you know...everything else that is less important.

I have never had one loaf cave in, and I must've done over 200 before the belt went kaput because they're cheaply built, but when they work they work (you need to experiment to get the right balance of ingredients to this specific model). You can consider buying a near broken machine for pennies for replacement parts, but is it worth your time and hassle?

Well, I am really sorry I watched your video. I wasted $8 on battery pack & screwdriver. I had zero luck removing the solder. My gun is NOT magic, so it would NOT remove the tabs. My vacuum pump would NOT remove the solder. So, after 45 minutes or wresting with it, I broke a gold tab. Should have thrown the shaver in the trash & moved on & not had a very frustrating afternoon..

I bought this bread maker second hand it to Goodwill and it worked OK but was leaving rubbery bits underneath of it. So I decided to take it apart to replace the belt. Your video has been most helpful. Sunbeam corporation not so much. It’s like they deliberately designed this thing so that the part most likely to need replaced was the hardest part to get to. They could have made this thing with a snap on base so that one could replace the belt like one might replace a battery.

Thanks for this video. Have you had an issue with the paddle spindle becoming loose? My spindle falls out and liquid now leaks out of the pan. I'm not sure if a c-clip(s?) has gone missing or if the bushing has worn and is now too loose to hold the spindle in place. What do you recommend? Maybe just buying a new pan altogether? Thanks!!

Guess what, that happened to me two weeks ago when I was making a very hard dough. I found this link www.instructables.com/id/Kenwood-Bread-Maker-BM-450-Bread-Pan-Shaft-Seal-Re but am not 100% sure whether the Sunbeam pan uses the same design/component.

Nevertheless, if you look at this ebay seller's stuff (www.ebay.com/gds/How-to-install-a-new-breadmaker-pan-shaft-seal-/10000000175092691/g.html), it seems to confirm the instructables' article.

Thanks for reply. I think the cir clips have actually worn out or broke away. As it turns out the bread pan is the same one used by a few brands. Second hand stores have whole shelves of barely used machines. I picked up a Hamilton Beach for $15 and using the pan in my Sunbeam for now. Cheaper than buying parts and less effort than repairing :D I have tweaked many recipes to bake properly in the Sunbeam, so I will continue using it till it dies. I do appreciate your video though.
