The public have run out of cash. The big jump >+5% in a month in credit card debt is ominous, isn't it?

Hi David. Ultimately its the ability to draw down on cash reserves which has helped keep inflation high as people continue to pay more for less. While some opt to take on fresh debt to maintain their spending habits, there will be many who hold off on purchases (hence weakness in discretionary vs staples). Hopefully this helps normalise price pressures and soon allows a more growth focused policy outlook.

@@TheJoshmahony I share your hope BUT there are many ways other than interest rates to squeeze consumer credit. I don't blame the victims, I blame the system for the failure. If we (it) wanted to, it could do a lot better pulling and pushing more levers.

Hey. Yes the jobs report provided an almighty dollar boost. Things settled a little here but USD strength still a potential theme that could derail things. Nonetheless, it's key to remain above the May low of 2282. Seems to be holding for now. Hope that helps. Josh

Yes, the Walmart earnings do provide a positive backdrop to the Target release. Also their relative outperformance against expectations in previous quarters has been encouraging. Outlook will also be key given some of the weaker eco data seen recently.

Hi Tony. There are a number of platforms that provide this information. Bloomberg and Eikon are two which provide the data across all major central banks but require costly subscriptions. However, you can see this data for the US Federal Reserve from the CME using their FedWatch tool. Just google CME Fedwatch. The comparison view is particularly useful. Hope that helps.
