97 degrees and all the coaches/announcers are still wearing suits and ties. Probably lost ten pounds that night.

People can call Isiah sneaky or whatever but the guy could flat out dominate a game on both ends at 5'11" and after Magic I'm taking Isiah next as the greatest PG all time. I still remember him taking over the 1981NCAA title game when Indiana played N Carolina when they had All Wood. James Worthy and Sam Perkins

Great compilation especially the out of bounds one. That's pretty rare.

You know what is not in this video? Handchecking. The prevalence and effectiveness of handchecking as a legal defensive tactic is EXAGGERATED by older players.

Prime Walton was a beast (and most likely he still had ways to go before injuries)! DPOY-level defense, big time rebounder, very tall and a very good athlete, a top3 GOAT passer at the center spot, had the footwork, soft touch, and the post moves, could hit FT’s, could come outside and hit some jumpers, amazing basketball IQ, brought the intangibles… RIP

People say Walton was "Jokic" before Jokic, but I think that's a lazy and inaccurate comparison, because Jokic is NOWHERE near the DEFENSIVE big man that young healthy Walton was. Walton was "Tim Duncan" before Tim Duncan

Kareem and Bird going at it jaw to jaw prompted this from Tommy Heinsohn: "I can tell you one thing - neither one of these players are getting bounced out of the game." 😄Understatement.

Coming out of college his game was more back to the /defender and he was described as “explosive around the basket.” Jerry West challenged him to develop his face up moves, and eventually he was quite good with the short to mid-range jumper as well. He just had some many ways to beat you in ISO - even late in his career they were sending double teams.

Zeke's hands were so fast, active, and accurate (not fouling) from 6 ft and below. Its nuts how many times hed get backed into the paint but still get a strip as guys would try to come up with the ball.

Doc's stats were not as great as today's players. The game back then was different. But if you watch the whole game, you realise how dominant he was at small forward position.
@matthewpredmore652316 күн бұрын
Yes, he was majorly dominant during his era. I’m not sure what stats of his you think inferior to today’s players. Is it the 24 points, 9 rebounds, 4 assists, 2 steals and 2 blocks per game over an almost 1300 game career? Is it his 63 point game? Is it his win share rating of 181 for his career? I’m not trying to bust your nuts, so don’t get me wrong. It’s just that I was there; I came of age in the 70s and watched him with both the Nets and the 76ers, seeing him in person at practice at F&M College and in games at the Spectrum. I can’t remember watching a game, even a game where Doc played at less than his usual level, where he didn’t do at least something that made you look on in awe and wonderment at it.
