So wait they’re worried about drones being used for national security meanwhile all of our data including our iPhones our laptops our smart phones are all made in China and everything is being washed. Meanwhile, the United States government has the border wide open and is letting the Chinese government buy all this land in the United States. You gotta be fucking kidding me this is all bullshit. The US government has no fucking right to tell people what they can or can’t do.

Wow. Home of the free huh. I waited years to buy a drone until I could go all out and buy the best one I could afford. I just bought a mavic 3 pro fly more package. I haven't opened it yet because I've been feeling weird about spending over 3 grand for a drone but excited at the same time. Now with learning about this foolishness, I'm wondering if I should even keep it or just take it back to best buy. This sucks

No one has given a good answer to what they actually think comes can do. At best it's a lot of what ifs cell phone data is already doing. I mean if your going to be paranoid, any country is a threat just about. This is bs and we all know it.

American drone companies are just upset that no one wants their extremely expensive and pathetically inferior drones. Funny enough, DJI is one of the only drone manufacturers that utilizes geofencing, which prevents the drones from being flown in restricted and/or secure areas. If DJI intended to spy on the US, they wouldn't even attempt to respect those limitations and would instead market their product as one that could subvert those official limitations.

I'm not sure which side you're on, but I think drones from China should be banned. I will admit having used DJI drones in the past, I think they are the better drones out there. But by banning them I'm hoping it will give American designed drones a better chance. Especially now that they are being use in modern warfare. Just like American and other countries have done in the past for core technologies by limiting access.

It was introduced by this lunatic Elise Stefanik on April but according to Congress.gov tracker, H.R.2864 still has to pass through the House, through the Senate and then signed by the President to be enacted as law... So... Go write to your representatives, and senators letting them know that HR2864 is far-right bullshit and only a protectionist maneuver to get Skydio (inferior to DJI) into the map...

The default to upload flight logs to DJI servers has been stopped and there was never a default to upload actual high-rez flight video to those servers. The fearmongering concern about spying over sensitive areas (vs satellite imagery) was never the real goal and Stefanic is rumored to be funded by domestic drone companies.

You can't use military hardware produced by a nation you might eventually go to war with. It's a security breach and they could track/disable these drones using backdoors in the CPU. They had the same problems at the beginning of the Russo-Ukrainian conflict, hense why they started building their own and sourcing the materials from different sources.

So if you're buying their products, you're basically endorsing the theft of r/d and their manufacturing.
