These cars were a hail-Mary-pass from Ford in the late 70s. Ford used the old cookie cutter approach to save money on this car basing it on the foxbody platform which was designed to be in everything. They weren't designed to be sporty nor were they even designed to be Mustangs. And that's what makes these Mustangs so unique. They are the only generation of Mustangs that don't bear a resemblance to their heritage. They look and feel completely different from any other Mustangs out there. The fox body was lightning in a bottle.

I remember back in the day no one really wanted Fox bodies. They kind of popular in the guys that liked kits on their cars.

I cannot emphasize enough on the last sentence he said. DO NOT BUY A PROJECT CAR, I REPEAT, DO NOT BUY A PROJECT CAR, BUY THE CLEANEST EXAMPLE YOU CAN FIND!!!!!!!!!!!!! That being said, hi! I am the guy who bought a 2k project 924S from 1987. It's been 5 years and I spent 35k on it. that is... only in parts. I do ALL the work myself. I did almost everything. brakes, suspension, steering rack and stuff, transaxle mounts, wiring, all vacuum lines, all sensors (yes, all) I've done the timing belt maybe 3 times but the waterpump and rollers disassembly maybe 10 times at that point, did all the engine seals, etc, etc... I always jokingly say there isn't a bolt I haven't touched on that car. But here's the deal. I just blew a headgasket (or my oil cooler seals, most likely, didn't do a compression check yet). I am the first owner who has maintained this car well. And for that reason, I get burned for it. Everything backfires on me. Every single bolt has fought me. Every single problem these cars are known for has happened to me (I had to weld the exhaust crack twice). Anyways, here's the catch: If you buy one, beware. Every single time I think about selling the car, I take one corner and I immediately tell myself "man what am I thinking! I can't sell that car!!!" Also, as he said in the video. There's no 944 that runs better than a stock but well maintained one, on which everything is basically new. when tuned properly (you can adjust the maf to make it read and flow more air because they come lean from factory) they become alive. I can't stop thinking about that car while it's sitting in my parking spot. PS: I bought a donor car from which I pulled everything, so yeah. I know these cars pretty well. ask me anything you want to know and I'll try to answer as best I could. Great video, cheers guys

Audience, I'm glad to have owned 3 foxbody stangs and still have one in my collection. All 3 were super clean, but that dollar sign kept getting larger and I sold 2. I sold a 93 cobra and a 93 gt for a nice value. Now my last one won't get sold unless I can't drive it anymore. It has little to no rust; meaning barely in a few cracks due to washing, but no rain or snow driving. I molested this one with a new ford stoker racing engine, AFR heads, procharger, hotchkis/koni adjustable suspension, autometer gauges, tko tranny, 373 gears, line lock, dual disc clutch, programmer to dial in AFR and fuel grades, MB QUARTS amp/speakers, pioneer deck, baer drilled rotors/brakes, 3" exhaust, dual fuel pumps, etc. too much to list. The inside looks brand new from front to rear.

I bought a used 90 lx 5.0 in 1999 when I was 16 years old. One of my dream cars. Listened to stories of my dad and his friends always talk about how they wish they still had chevelles, vettes, and gto's they had at my age. Vowed to never sell it. In 2019 I decided to have it restored and am in the process of putting the final pieces back in the interior and about to have it completed. Can't wait to get behind the wheel again. It sat in my dad's garage for 15 years after I moved to Florida. It's going to look great in my garage next to the Viper....another childhood dream car. I'll keep the 5.0 until I die. I'll be 41 in June and the finished 5.0 will make a great birthday gift to myself.
