I’m not sure if I had a stroke or what happened I had Covid three times and I felt my brain swelling down like my neck area. My school plates had moved and overlapped over each other my scalp for a year. I couldn’t really speak right my eyes were glossy, my leg was kind of like dragging it still does, though I used to rollerskate but I mean it’s a lot better now . I’m trying to get back to work. I’m gonna go back to work. It’s been three years. I want to try to get this done. Try to get some sort of a life back. Thank you for posting these videos.

Sorry to hear about your injury. The only way to tell if surgery will help would be to see a migraine surgeon and get an evaluation using nerve blocks. If a nerve block takes away your pain and dizziness then you might be a candidate for surgery. kzfaq.info/get/bejne/qJd-lLeBmN2ynac.htmlsi=dCFr5FNoQAUlXf6U

I have pain in the front of my neck that started behind my head behind my ear and traveled down my neck to back of head.one side..and to my collarbone. The first neurosurgeon mentioned occipital neuralgia because I would cry when the front and of my neck muscle would spasm. He could actually see it happening. This is all one sided pain..I don’t have migraines. I also developed Allodynia later on under my neck, front of one side of neck and chest. I get a sensation that goes all the way from my occipital nerve behind my ear down my arm into my thumb. I’ve had head mris and Ct scans which show I have issues with c-3 c-4 but I get the feeling that that not really causing this. I’ve seen two neurosurgeons that are stumped. I was offered ACDF surgery if a diagnostic cortisone injection in that area gives me relief. Does this sound like I could have occipital neuralgia?

This is despite having an intense work schedule (12-16 hour days) and business travel. I actually have not had an episode since March, which is the longest stretch of time I have gone without an episode in nearly 10 years."

I take my hat off to him with gratitude and can happily say after several years of miserable pain from the peripheral headaches and other issues, I am happily pain free. If the nerve block made your scalp numb in the area of your headache and yet your pain did not go away, then the nerve block was done correctly and it is unlikely that you are a surgery candidate. If your scalp did NOT go numb then your nerve block was not done correctly for a diagnostic block and it does not mean anything, and you may still be a candidate for surgery.

Thank you for the video. I'm 3.5 weeks post op from having Occipital Nerve Decompression surgery. Instead of a vertical incision on the back of neck, and a few on head and other parts of neck he did 1 horizontal incision about 6" across IMO where I would say C1 is. The pressure and tightness where the incision site is is unbearable at times and gets tighter when watching TV, on phone, PC or really anything with any amount of eye strain. Also there felt like a band around the crown of my head that would tighten as well, thankfully that is getting better. He said he removed the LON and TON but left the greater. I need to ask but I am not real sure why he removed LON and TON and also stated they were tucked into a muscle for blood supply. He said no chance of them coming loose or out of the muscle. I have had migraines 2x as bad as before surgery and have only had about 3 half way normal days. I questioned why the horizontal incision over the traditional and was told it creates access to all nerves at once. I guess that's more important than the patients recovery and pain they go thru. I couldn't sleep on my back for 2 weeks, felt my head was laying on a 2x4. I'm guessing this and the tight pressure where my incision is is due to the incision pretty much being from ear to ear. Not sure how much muscle he cut thru ect. I asked for a pic and it showed just the greater which looked really damaged, as if they were stretched and frayed like an old rubber band. I guess my question is is there anything thing I can do about this and does this sound like a usual recovery. If I turn my head certain ways i can feel a nerve in my neck shoot up to the left side right above ear, Not sure if that would be the less or greater. May be another nerve needing decompressed but no around here does that. (Nashville area) Said all my symptoms post op would improve 6 month to a year. I sure wasn't told the pain and issues that would occur post op. I know this surgery was needed, just 2nd guessing my choice of who I chose to do it. Pretty much the only one of 2 in my area and apparently has done over 500 with 90% success rate. 50% no recurrence of a migraine, 40% over all improvement, with only 10% no difference. IMO I'm seeing and understanding and wishing the incision was vertical. Thanks for your time.

@@adamlowenstein I sure appreciate the reply. It sure would've been nice for them to tell you the pain and other issues that occur post op. I just feel if the incision was a vertical incision and not a long horizontal incision a lot of my issues actually wouldn't be an issue. That incision is so tight I'm not sure how it's not applying pressure on the GON and not sure if the scar tissue from that will be an issue or not moving forward. trying to stay positive but hard when you feel that a lot of information was left out and not discussed before hand. Like I said I appreciate your quick response, thank you! BTW: Where are you located? Thanks

@@adamlowensteinMy pain is skyrocketing right now. I am so confused and my next specialist appointment is in weeks. I have a disc herniation at L5-S1 level, I was told by Ostheopath that I was getting bilatetal 3 levels facet nerve block (my pain is predominantly on the right side). However during the procedure he only did right L4 and L5 a month ago. Why he didn't L5-S1 where's my disc herniation? From a column orthopedist I had an order of a bilateral L5-S1. When I asked why he only did to levels in one side, he told me he did'nt want to traumatized myself. I feel that the nerve block was unsucessful I had a little improvement the last 3 months due to physical therapy I believe. What could be the next step? Can I get L5-S1 nerve block as suggested initially by orthopedist? I am really confused because this clinic sent me with another of his doctors and he is recommending me straight the radiofrequency ablation. Most of my pain comes from the sides of my sacrum and down the buttocks.
