In the moment, I thought it would be better to not react emotionally like they did. I think it was a Monday afternoon and they were drinking on the beach at like 3 or 4pm. Looking back on it, I could have said something more.

Good work. I just bought a 1989 starfire 245. Has an inboard 5.7 with the stern drive but I’d love to do the same. It really opens up the back of the boat

@@DDFishingCo if I do it I’m gonna film the process as well. Only thing that sucks with my boat is the cap is super broad in the back because it was a 12” wide fish box along the beam. Yours may have been similar.. I’m just not sure what to do with that

Nice! I see what you’re saying that could make it tough. The fun thing about the project is likely you will come up with better ideas as you go along. You’ll find a way to make that area work for your project. It will take some time and thinking

Loved your video! I feel your pain in this video. I live and fish on the NorCal coast and it's tough to catch anything from the high cliffs here. Not to mention the rough seas a lot of the time.

Wow, these were all really big. "Only 13" but the weight was probably 180-200 lbs total. What a great day. I had no idea marlin could be found way up here.

Thanks for the cool video. I have similar rail mounted rod holders like you do: how do you prevent them from spinning/slipping downwards when a fish hits?

Thanks man! It depends on the brand really. Some are better than others. It helps to put electrical tape on the rail, wrap it a few times and try to really wrench down on them. Use loctite on the bolts too.

Yes, September, October, and November are great months to catch them. The big one in the video was caught in October.

In this video I was using a 7’3” 5 power rod, you could use a 7’6”. I really liked the 7’3” for tight sloughs and tight casting areas.

Squid is good frozen bait, artificial stuff is awesome too. We prefer using artificial baits like the squidtrex, it has squid scent, looks like a squid.

Some studies show fish do not feel pain the way we do, their nerve receptors are different than humans. I’m not sure if that means they feel nothing at all, or if they do.
