Hey James, building your own board is actually easier and cheaper than you think!

Hi what ply do you usually use for your boards ?
@Aaron.deRuiter3 күн бұрын
I use cheap 3mm plywood from the hardware store for my prototypes and high quality 3mm marine ply for my final design boards. The cheap 3mm ply is slightly heavier but holds up just as well as the more expensive stuff.

for how much you sale this paddle boards?
@Aaron.deRuiter3 күн бұрын
We don’t offer built boards, we sell the plans to build them yourself. www.vintageboardco.com.au
I mostly used an epoxy called Surfset Flex made in Australia and polyurethane glue for the butt joints.

Sailing version? Or is that asking too much? Of course the purist in me thinks proa but then you’re looking at an asymmetric canoe which would be useless for other purposes, like half a double canoe. Great stuff Aaron. I have been diverted from small stuff since we are prepay Jarkan for cruising. Moored near Rip Bridge these days (for now)

Hello... Great job... Congratulations. But did you build the sail with the mast yourself or did you buy it already made? Do you have a video or purchase link for the sail? Thank you. Greetings. Philip
@Aaron.deRuiterАй бұрын
Thanks mate. The sail would have been too difficult to make myself and get the aerofoil shape perfect. I bought it from Star Kayak Sails. It’s their 3.3sqm sail.

Love the simplicity and the rugged feel of the bamboo crossbeams. I'd say that I suspect you won't sail it, but I believe you even converted a SUP to sail power, so I'll withhold predictions! Great to see another video from you after such a long time. I was inspired by your beautiful wa'apa build in particular (but also found your note about long setup/rigging times very useful - not practical for me).

Thanks mate, the bamboo works so perfectly. You guessed right, there’s a sail option I’m working on!

@@Aaron.deRuiter I'm avid paddleboard(sman). Tried and use heavy plastic to go downstream through rapids or get through heavy brush along Potomac edge. Inflatables are ease to roll and store, take somewhere, but pain to pump up every time. However for pure paddling joy - veneer made hand crafted are most awesome - cutting perfectly through water.
