Hi. I have a very similar supply of iMac 27inch 2020 with 16 pin output connector . On the output pin 2 and 10 I have 1.1VDC. 0VDC on all other pins. That indicates that the power supply is broken. Nothing visually looks burnt on the power supply. What is your opinion? Please help.

Good video Pedro, the inverted L modulation is super interesting. One question - why is 20 segments usually chosen? Would choosing 40 segments result in more accurate modulation?
@ct7ahv
@ct7ahv Жыл бұрын
Theorically yes, more segments would give more accurate results, but on HF segment it makes no difference. The “standard” is 10 segments per half wave.

Hi, you said you use 10m of wire with this tuner. The very thing with this kind of tuner is to use a length of wire that is NOT a half wave (or a multiple of that) for the band to use it on. Or, in other words, the length of the connected wire should not be resonant for the band that you want to use. Your use of 10 meters of wire is a half wave for the 20m band. Do, there it will be resonant. That is not preferred. And it is also resonant for 10m ( a whole wavelength)
@ct7ahv
@ct7ahv 2 жыл бұрын
Yes 10m of wire will be resonant on 40, 20, 15 and 10m. I know that half wavelengths must be avoided because they make the tuner develop high voltages inside. In this tuner, operating up to 100W is safe for the tuner. Less than 10m of wire will have poorer performance to work on multiband.

@@ct7ahv Hi Pedro, ok, I just thought I should mention it that it's better to avoid the resonant lengths of wire. I have a CG-3000 myself, which I occasionally use. The tuner is situated at ground lever and an almost vertical situated wire of 9 meters is the antenna wire. I use a ground-rod as counterpoise. It does work, though it seems to be a bit of a noisy antenna (most verticals are, apparently) not being symmetric. Anyway, trying out different antennas and experimenting with them, is always interesting, I think. I myself am quite intrigued by "magnetic-loop antennas" I'd say, enjoy the hobby, but I'm sure you do, looking at your QRZ-com page. 73 de PC7H, Roy.

I connected my buffer to CN-101. Just add a pin connecter, short it and connect the center conductor of your coax. Ground the coax to the chassis and your done.

@@Mark300win the common mode current flows on the outside of coax shield and it doesn’t care if the radio is grounded or not. Grounding the station’s equipment only matters for operator safety and for static discharge, and obviously to prevent ground loops and non-equal zero potential

I’ve mostly seen these tuners on sailing boats. Where they sit right under the deck and are connected directly to an isolated aft stay. (The cable that pulls the mast backwards) That cable length is “random” and depending on the mast length. That is different from boat to boat.

Mehmet thanks for your comment! Actually you are using a resonant length with very high impedance on the end! You can damage your tuner because very high impedance means very high voltage inside the tuner and capacitors and relays can start arcing! Decrease the length to 16,5m or increase to 30m and you will be fine. I never tested the tuner with more than 100w. My amplifiers deliver up to 2,5KW so with only 5w in I get 400w++ output and will be too much for this tuner. If you look hot higher power tuner have a look on eBay for n7ddc 1KW antenna tuner. Hope this helps! 73!

Pedro CT7AHV
