Last Fall my 2023 Bronco OB 2-dr 2.7 came in. I love it, but I kinda feel like it will be my last gas burner. And that’s ok. I take care of my vehicles and run them at least a decade. My 2015 F150 sold me on the 2.7 ecoboost. The truck has 152K on the clock now, and it also sold me on the utility of a pickup truck and how reliable/strong the 2.7 is with 5000 mile oil changes and high grade synthetic oil. Your honest tale of an EV skeptic being converted by how good the Lightning is convinces me more than any number of writeups by EV lovers. I’m an electrical engineer looking to sell out of Plano TX in a few years and head west to Kingman AZ. That might just be a good time to slip into one of these. Thanks for the write up.

I stand with the same belief system as you. I’ve also owned 3 Diesel trucks that were all full size trucks. I own a Rivian now. It has absolutely ruined me for driving a Diesel truck again. If you truly need the power, distance, and towing for daily use, go diesel. If you occasionally tow like me up to 11,000 lbs, the EV trucks do really well. Charging while on the road is the ONLY set back. But that exact set back has taught me to slow down and relax a bit more while driving. Thanks for your video.

Things change over time. Was it political when we went from horse and buggy to the automobile? The resisitence is from big oil. No, EVs by themselves aren't going to save our planet but its one step in the right direction away from fossil fuels. Battery technology is moving at an incredible speed and for now lithium is about 95% recycleable and every day our power is getting cleaner. You speak of "choices" but its really about "freedom" and freedom ain't free! We have a responsibility to take care of our planet for our kids. As soon as it becomes political then common sense goes out the window and it becomes tribal with no consideration of the future. I love my Lightning, ICE vehicles and gas stations look like relics to me now. No more oily mess from chaging my oil. No more searching for the cheapest gas. With solar panels on my roof I'm driving on sunshine and loving it. Isn't anything political about that.

I have a lightning and I also hate that ev's have become so political. I'm right leaning and i get people assuming things of me also. I actually don't care about the environment too much. I don't let it bother me anymore. It's so much more cheaper to operate than an ICE vehicle and the power is crazy. it's a shame that a lot of people won't even give it a chance because they believe that ev's are a lefty thing. oh well. in the meantime, i'll keep saving money.

I do not. What saves me a little, is when purchasing and EV, you can be set up on different programs. Between the hours of 9pm to 4pm (the following day), I pay .25 cents per KWh. Between the hours of 4pm to 9pm I pay .59 cents per KWh. Prior to purchasing, I paid .42 cents per KWh around the clock. Even with Charging both vehicles daily, my bill has actually dropped. But still pricey nonetheless.

If your politics are in conflict with your needs, of what use are your politics? What part of California do you live in? This is sarcasm, right?
@californiahigh-desertconce7999
@californiahigh-desertconce7999 20 күн бұрын
Nope, no sarcasm. The problem is, when politicians enforce something, it always creates backlash. In this case, California has imposed a law, that beginning the year 2035 - all California residents will not legally be able to purchase a gas, or diesel powered vehicle brand new. They are removing the ability for citizens to have a choice. For that, I can understand. Although some of us are fortunate, and can buy into this technology, I cringe knowing my little girl will be forced into purchasing a $60,000+ vehicle when attempting to buy a new car. This goes along with all citizens heading into the real world struggles, when first getting into the adult world. Technology is an incredible thing. But having choices is an amazing feeling. Everyone should have that option.

Only in America... Land of the Free... Where everything is political and you can't drive a vehicle that suits you best. How ironic that Americans restrict their own freedoms when in communist countries such as china, people are free to buy what ever they want without judgement. Anyways, really enjoyed your stories and I am glad to hear you are enjoying the lightning. They are truly amazing trucks. Hopefully, more people such as yourself fight the myth that the vehicle you drive actually has anything to do with politics. As you said, EV's are not for everyone just yet, especially if you do a lot of long distance driving. But if it does suit your use case and you have the ability to install a level 2 charger at home, EV's are an amazing choice.

I couldn’t agree more. The money savings are a huge plus. With my latest purchase, I was worried, knowing my Chevy trade in was severely upside down. But not having to pay for DEF fluid, Diesel fuel, and oil changes, it has actually saved me overall. Truth be told, I have been driving this as my work vehicle the last couple of months, even knowing my actual work truck offers free fuel. I may not be saving in a financial aspect, but I cannot get over the comfort of my daily drive. Ive told others, this vehicle hits all benefits. You get the feel of a Cadillac, the power of a high end sports car, and the benefits of a full size truck. Although there are many options today, I truly believe for the money, the F150 Lightning is the best option available.

The 45 acp compact xdm Springfield elite has a 9,10 and a 13rd magazine option. However, you can also buy an extension sleeve that makes your handgrip full size if needed. Though, you want to make sure its compatible with your base plate because you can modify each base plate for seasonal concealment as well.

Yes, since this time, I’ve seen different options. I’ve always known if the 13 round full size mag. In addition, it provides a full grip to handle, if people are not comfortable with the two finger grip

@californiahigh-desertconce7999 - Exactly, although I like glocks better, because they are proven by police forces nationwide. @Cabron444 yeah, I’m sort of a fan of both. Actually all guns for that matter. The only knock on Glock that I had, especially going for the Glock, 30, or the 29, is how thick it was inside the waist. I tend to appendix carry, so it left a little discomfort, compared to my others. I can’t attest though, both have fired thousands and thousands of rounds, and never failed me yet. I do agree, Glock definitely has the long track record.

Would the 40 being a higher pressure round be a problem?. I know it's not a glock it's all steel so it's alot less likely to go kaboom. But will the frame start to Crack or anything I just got a gi 1911 in 45. But have plenty of .40 s&w ammo. Also in terms of reliability. Would it be possible to carry for ccw?
@californiahigh-desertconce7999
@californiahigh-desertconce7999 11 ай бұрын
I wouldn’t see any concerns shooting the .40. I own a few 1911’s in 10mm (one of which I built on an aluminum frame), and they shoot my reloads on a steady diet at 1300+ fps. If you are doing a full swap out, I would recommend a 18.5lb recoil spring, along with a 26lb hammer spring. The recoil will be similar to shooting a 9mm, and will protect the frame from being battered. Trigger pull may have a slight increase in lbs with this change, but you’d have to really pay attention - to even notice it. However, if just shooting 100 to 200 rounds on a monthly basis, I wouldn’t worry about a thing. That frame should last a few generations.
