Cheers David mate, I really liked the GBRf livery, it was like a modern day version of the large logo livery. But nice to see a BR livery on these two again, 50007 in particular hasn't worn the livery in 40 years I believe

Great catch here peter, the ex LNER power cars are always in a bit of a state, I saw one last year and the livery wasn’t in the best condition.

greetings over there, trust you are well. just wondering when looking at your Mammoth it has some great finishing paintwork on the roof with the green - my one is completely green - do you perhaps know the difference - mine is hornby D1670 "Mammoth"

My D1670 Mammoth is a Bachmann model that was produced exclusively for Kernow Model Rail Centre. The Hornby model was produced donkey years ago, the Bachmann model does have more and better details

I do have a N scale layout . Tho I may get this to be the first 009 model . It looks so nice . Tho I don’t have anything to put behind it with the correct couplers I have a plan to fit that issue . Will the coupler for this fit in a peco wagon by chance . I wanna try to fit a 009 coupler into an N scale Nem poket to make a converter wagon So I can couple this up to one end and an N scale item onto the other . And it means I don’t have to get it it’s own coaches or slate trucks

OO9 stock tends to have clip couplings that clip into the pocket, if an N gauge model has a clip coupling pocket you should be able to change the couplings

@@class47peter that’s my plan . I am using a peco wagon the modern one and am going to use the spare coupler that comes with the double farlie . And I hope it fits Or if it dosent I will buy the peco 009 coupler to fit

Great running session here Peter, very nice to see the Duchess of Atholl back out on the layout again, I know I have said before how some locos that have smoke deflectors look very weird when the are not fitted but that’s mainly the Maunsell locomotives, the duchess though looks great without them, great to se it double heading with the Turbomotive, I do have a Duchess of Atholl myself but it’s a really old hornby dublo one converted to 2 rail as they were only released as 3 rail models, it must be the oldest loco I have in my whole collection, I have the turbomotive but it’s the BR black one, overall great running session here Peter.

@@class47peter mine did that 7 times in 30min had returned it and bought a bachmann Linda, runs perfectly but i had to rip out half of the track on the layout i'm building (was already balasted) because it was too tight

This is a truly remarkable video. Will this ever happen again?? I hadn't realised there were 7 in preservation! I recall what were, I guess, the early days of this railway when it still had a mainline connection at Duffield. It's had a few problems to overcome, but it seems to be thriving at the moment. Long may that continue. Thanks for sharing.

20 members of the class are preserved in the UK. Though 5 were exported abroad to Belgium and Spain in 1982 and 1975. No idea what became of them

@class47peter perhaps it's about time that Heljan made a better model of the class 14, given so many are preserved!? I had one once, an awful model, put me off. At least the full size run well.....

Hi Peter what a great Video, I was there with my Niece and her husband a couple of years ago and thoroughly enjoyed myself, I have always been a Photographer and although I don't get about as much as I used to due to Severe Arthritis , battling with constant pain but seeing your Video brought back lovely memories of a well run set up.best wishes, Colin.

If I had known the route that this was going before today I could have tried to get out and see it as it passed through a station not far from where I live but hopefully one day I can see a peak on the mainline, great catch here Peter. Have you heard about A.Oakes peter, the model shop is closing down and I know you go to it quite often.

Sam's Trains said it doesn't have a coreless motor. He also mentioned the logo isn't really accurate & maybe missing something on the bottom front at the side. With his, he mentioned some stuff, including the funnel weren't fitted straight. As for your running session, I think you run them just a tad to fast.

I've conpared the logo to the real one it looks pretty accurate other than the possibility that the colours may be incorrect unless the light in the photos is dictating what the colour is. I had no QC issues with my model either as shown in the video, I do mention in the video mine didn't have any faults. As for how I run my trains, its my layout and I can run what I want and run them as I please and as I want. With a model railway, you can do what you want.

I've fitted 17mm couplings to all of my Hornby Maunsell stock. Almost no gap between vehicles and they work absolutely fine on 3rd radius curves and will even negotiate 2nd radius points at a push.

This makes me want to see what Rapido’s take on a North Staffordshire Railway locomotive would be like. I imagine they’d do it well, especially since most of their models so far have been great.

My only concern is that, as someone who converts my models to either P4 or EM it has been designed in a way that cannot be converted easily without changing the chassis (unless some concern like Ultrascale produces wheel/axle/driving gear sets. That said it is an absolute beauty, and I will have to produce a 00 test track to run it on (or take it to ny local model club's test track). Now Rapido let me tell you about the Met F class which is basically the same loco with a different chassis and a larger bunker...

Excellent review here peter, looks to be a fantastic loco, might look at one of these myself if there are some still available at a later date as I am wanting to have at least one locomotive in my collection which wears the really nice Metropolitan/London Transport livery.
