The bag can be used for water and the cordage and shelter is the parachute. The chute also has a signal panel on it.

What is it with everyones obsession with surface rust. Personally I love all my high carbon products to have that used, worn in look. Ads a bit more character to me. I guess I'm just a bit strange 🤣

The Savotta can be equipped with an internal aluminium frame, costs a little extra, but it's worth it.

👍 Very good update. I really appreciate videos on knives where is at least as much cutting as talking. I believe a convex edge is the best edge for a knife. So, losing a secondary bevel is no loss in my mind. I also use ceramic rods and strops on my knives and hatchets as the main sharpening tools - they work great. If you use the following products in the order given they will make that sheath look almost new without losing it’s well earned character: Lexol Deep Conditioner Obenauf’s Heavy Duty LP Smith’s Leather Balm Regarding your question about which knife I prefer, I am very interested in Puukkos and Saami knives from Scandinavia. I am also starting to like Yakutian knives from the Siberian area of Russia. Again, thank you for sharing your thoughts on the Mora Garberg.

I received this kit to tryout. A bit expensive, yes there is better gear. But! Their 2P ten is great! Held together just fine in a serious storm, condensation is very minimal. You will stay dry. Their quilt is quite comfortable, the pack has straps on the bottom so you can lash your tent and sleeping bag to the bottom to hold clothes and whatever else you may need. I would personally recommend if you go this route buy their 5 piece bundle and buy the rest of your gear elsewhere. Those knocking this company are either die hard ultra-light twats or have never used these products and are commenting off of a video. Personally I think they make great products.

Great video Paul! I’ve been doing a few reviews on Temu products and I have to say I’m surprised by the quality vs cost of the items!

Selfreliance/Pathfinder products are all about looks and come straight out of China/Vietnam. Go with the handmade and sewn in Finland Savotta every time. Throw that ither junk in the trash and dont support companies like that.

I've used a lot of different tarps and have come full circle back to the USMC poncho. it's multipurpose, has tie outs, lightweight and versatile, good size. Nice for going stealth too.

👍 Nice review. Funny that the OD Green version costs so much more than the Red version as a Red version would be so much more desirable. I use the Victorinox Ranger which is a very similar knife with a corkscrew and agree these 111mm SAK knives are very good. I squared off the front section of the bottle top lifter on mine to use it as a ferro rod striker.

There's certain pieces of gear that can work from Temu and others that I wouldn't trust. Medical gear is one I wouldn't trust from a Temu seller. There are some pieces like Israeli bandages or the like, but things like TQs I wouldn't trust. Just my opinion.
