One word of caution to all prospective buyers, these trucks are far from new. Most are from the late 60's and early 70's. They've been rode hard and put up wet. Most of them haven't had any PM performed since 2005. They are condition code P which means uneconomically repairable and of no value except for material content. They will be rusty and may have inoperative components as well as cracked frames and crossmembers.

The ambulance model of the CUCV came equipped with GM factory air conditioning. So, their is a pattern for it. All the GM parts are listed in TM9-2320-289-20P. Probably be real expensive, more than that 40 year old truck is worth.

Your videos have helped me figure out a lot on my m1008 I know this is off topic but I figured you may know so I'll ask anyways, so I've got a 1938 Chevy truck with a 216 straight 6. It's a 6 volt system with original Delco Remy generator. I'm trying to figure out how to easily convert it to 12v. Trying to figure what alternator to use, it's a 5/8 belt, it takes different brackets too. Then I need to know how to wire it up. Can you help? Don t see much info online for this conversion. Thanks!

i remember sometimes the tanks wouldnt have enough volts to start and we’d have to charge them for thirty minutes with another tank and most times there was like one tank that would start in those cold ass ft riley mornings

The np200 and np205 while having gears and shaft spacing that are similar are very different in how they transmit the power. The main reason for heating i in the 200 is that the front top gear is turning twice as fast as the shaft on roller bearings. The gear oil is carried up on the rear gears but doesn't really get to the roller bearings in the front gear as efficiently as it needs to. The faster you go the worse it gets. The 205 gears are such that the back gears are on roller bearings turning 1/2 the speed of the shaft. There are also front and back gears on the lower shaft and gear oil is carried up both sets of gears.

You said you replaced your 84 Suburban to the newer controller from the "Octopus." Can you give details on that? Where do the wires go from the eight to the four connecter? I have an 83 with the "Octopus" you mentioned and the price of the controller is just dumb. I'll do a manual button before I spend $200 on the controller. Thanks again. Do your belts bounce while it's running ? I hear it's a characteristic of the 6.2 , i put NAPA belts on mine and they still bounce?

wow the years of teaching you can give very nice , got one tough onefor you, on a 1982 6.2 3/4 ton 4wheel i want to drop oil pan and see if my oil pick up tube o ring in bad got low oil pressure and i guess put a new oil pump in too but not sure one what pump to buy thanks again sir

Does the m1008 gen 2 supposed to be isolated ground as well. On mines where the ground is connected to the engine, on gen2 a red wire goes to the block beside the glow plug solenoid. Note my truck was bought as is and I'm going through it bumper to bumper. So brothers like you and rocknus are my tutors among others. I believe my gen 2 set up is wrong

Hey sir, got a question for you. Have an 83 civilian 6.2 with the two spin on fuel filter setup. I replaced the injection pump and am trying to prime it. I filled both filters and I know the shut off solenoid is operating. I'm getting fuel out the return line but nothing to the cylinders. Any advice? Don't want to burn out the starter just priming it. Pump is good, was bench tested at the shop by a pro. TIA

The best way I found to cut the stale diesel or Biodiesel shellac, Is lacquer thinner or Carb/choke cleaner. Brake cleaner, or parts solvent won't touch it. E85 gasoline will also dissolve it. TGP

Why the loop.

I bought 2 trucks that had this resister bypass performed. But in extremely cold weather they couldn’t start. A easy fix was to put a relay in with a switch. Run it in bypass most of the time if it’s -10 flip it back to resister.

A BIG thanks for making this video series, it’s been very helpful! A couple questions: given that your shop floor was 1/4” out of level over 4 feet, wasn’t your 4 foot level showing that as well? Wasn’t the bubble not perfectly centered between the lines? Or did it take something more precise (or better calibrated) like the Smart Camber to reveal that? I have been trying to get a proper alignment on a 2022 Toyota GR86 (a 2800 lb, RWD car) that has aftermarket coilovers (with adjustable camber plates) and aftermarket adjustable RLCA’s. For Camber, the coilover manufacturer recommends negative 2.4 degrees in the front, and negative 2.2 degrees in the rear. For 90% street use (& 10% twisty roads with occasional autocross), do you think that amount of negative camber is going to wear out the insides of my tires prematurely (like you did in about 9,000 miles)?

I'd be invested in seeing a video on isolated ground alt rebuilds for the cucv.

Thank you so much for this video. Very informative & you went slow enough & spoke enough that I could understand. Always liked working on my own vehicles. First was a ‘95 Buick Riviera & I have an ‘03 BMW 525i. I drove it SO long, with it misfiring & didn’t realize what it was. Now I know & looking fwd to using what I learned from this to change the spark plugs myself. My father & any man that’s ever helped me always just did it instead of teaching me. I already have the plugs so looking fwd to changing them!! Thanks!!
