I think most have the windshield washer bottle mounted to the drivers side fender well.

A few hours ago I started digging into my 1964 Impala myself, and I started searching for parts. I need that "Splash guard" you called it at 8:45 and I can NOT find them anywhere. I found one website calling them a "Lower Inner Fender Filler Panel" but they're out of stock.

Ya. I know the one. I've seen it listed online but it's a long time since I've seen it. I've got some but I think they're rather pitted or bent. I'll have to check and see what kind of shape they're in.

Probably. That motors long gone now though. I picked up a running 261, transmission and dif for $400. Needed the trans just as bad since the one in my car was a coffee grinder, so this was a better option.

400$ was a steal for a 261 and a transmission, a lot better running truck.

Where did you get the snap on jig for the bumper guards..
@padresprojects
@padresprojects 9 ай бұрын
I made those. I didn't do a video on that process though. It involved using a piece of body metal and heating/shaping it to conform to a damaged bumper section that already had the holes in the correct spot. That was my template. Each one took about an hour and a half to make.

See the chapter called "Is the frame bent?" If you've got picks of that section of the frame on your 64 Impala, I'd like to see them.

After getting the 64 Impala front end sheet metal in order its time for the front bumper. I did run into something unexpected, and I've also got something in store for next week. If you want to check out the fastener kit I mentioned on this part of the project you find it at www.jdoqocy.com/click-100845357-11554339?url=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.partsgeek.com%2Fcatalog%2F1964%2Fchevrolet%2Fimpala%2Fbody_mechanical_-ar-_trim%2Ffender_hardware_kit.html I may make a small commission from PartsGeek.com if you purchase something.

Finally getting to the point where the front end on the 64 Impala is going back together. PartsGeek has 3 different fastener kits to choose from. The variations are small, and the number of fasteners varies. I could get a small commission if you purchase parts from PartsGeek: sovrn.co/iw4pfeo

Hi Padre - thanks for sharing - was the steering column- / dashboard-mounted tach on the ‘64 Impala w a 409 a factory option? Interesting comment about it that the ability to verify ‘numbers matching’ from GM wasn’t possible ‘til ‘65.
@padresprojects
@padresprojects Жыл бұрын
Ya. If it's the one above the steering column in front of the instrument cluster, it was just an option.

No console because not an ss. Pretty slick 64.
@padresprojects
@padresprojects Жыл бұрын
Actually the entire SS package in 64 was just a trim option. An SS in 64 didn't include everything we've come to understand as an SS option like console, tac, V8, or posi diff. You could get a 6 cylinder with 3 on the tree with the SS trim.

Thanks Robert. Shooting these videos adds a lot more time to each task so I might not cover everything, but there are definitely some things that warrant detailed coverage. I think KZfaq is loaded with coverage on cutting and grinding, and welding but there are some unique disassembly and assembly procedures that require a bit of finesse to get thru. I'll try to focus on those.
