I'd be afraid of swimming between the 2 plates. We jump into frozen lakes for fundraising where I'm from, so the cold water isn't a concern. But O'Toole lives on my shoulder (look up O'Toole's commentary on Murphy's law 😂) & swimming between two tectonic plates just sounds like a bad idea for me 😅

Any tips for how to start free diving? My breath hold time is horrendous

Of course! Best way would be to take a freediving course, but we are working on a beginner online course to start and improve your breath hold!

Like if you can already hold your breath for 2 minutes 💪🏻
@bonnyandgava_engАй бұрын
Details here 👇🏼 The first thing you have to know is that if you hold your breath for less than 2 minutes, the problem is not your oxygen getting low, you still have plenty of it. It’s your CO2 rising too much. 😮💨 Here’s 2 exercises that will reduce your urge to breathe triggered by CO2, and help you reach 2 min: 1. 10 holds of 1 min while reducing rest. Start with 2 min rest, 1 min hold, 1:45 rest, 1 min hold, 1:30 rest, 1 min hold, 1:15 rest, 1 hold… down to 0:15 rest 2. 10 holds of 30 sec with only 1 breath in between. No relaxing first, 30 sec hold, 1 breath out and in, 30 sec hold… try to push the 10th hold to 1 min or more. ⚠️ Safety: if you do these exercises outside the water it is safe to do them alone, but if you do them in the water always have a trained assistant watching. Alternate these 2 exercises for a week and you’ll hold your breath for 2 min! Send this to someone who wants to try this with you! 🤙🏼

How right you are. 😫 I can do the Frenzel in dry condition, but struggle diving beyond 5 meters. In 5 meters depths I cannot build up enough pressure in my nose to pump up my Eustachian tubes in order to push my ear drums back. It is so frustrating to me. I am really jealous of you.
@bonnyandgava_engАй бұрын
In the simplest terms: the deeper you go, the more pressure increases → this causes your eardrums to bend inwards and generate pain 🤯 Equalising means moving air from the mouth to the ears to push the eardrum back to a neutral pain-free position. 🤧 To equalise: gently blow through your nose while pinching it shut. You should feel your nostrils filling up with air and both your ears lightly popping. Try this right now and be gentle!! 👀 Next, try it again while keeping a hand on your belly. If your abs are relaxed and your throat is moving when you equalise, then you are doing the correct technique called Frenzel! 👏🏼 🫵🏼 A trick when you dive is to equalise once on the surface, before going down, and then make sure to repeat it very often for the first few meters. Everyone can learn but some people take longer and working 1on1 with an instructor is always the best idea ☺️ Do you have any problems equalising or is it your first time trying?
