It's definitely a difficult place for 0wind takeoffs😅 Love the way Kristine(bgd Anda) balanced down the different ridge tops before she gets in the air.

I don’t understand why you would buy a seed when a good second hand glider cost the same and is air worthy
@JoarABTheflyingraven15 күн бұрын
The Seed has perfect trim. Vs an older glider often has not. And i already have gliders i use for flying. This one is dedicated to ground handling. I use it a lot. And dont want wear out my flying gliders.

Ser roligt ut 😊 En fråga, du flyger ju BGD base 2 och lättviktsvingen Anda. Har du någongång testat BGD Base 2 Lite eller någon annan high B lättviktsvinge och vad har du tyck om vingen isåfall?
@JoarABTheflyingraven18 күн бұрын

I never pack like this and ive never seen it actually recommended. Only if the wing is super old e.g. kiting only where you dont care about its health... ill explain: By folding in the middle like that you cause extra wear to the top surface fabric, as its the outside of the fold it is under extra stress. And you do this repeatedly = bad idea. You also can damage the leading edge reinforcement in the middle... why not just cell-pack as normal? All together, all facing the same way, no fold in the middle. Then, when you Z fold it for the backpack you alternate each time you pack it away. Simple, best way, recommended by many good pilots and instructors 👍
@JoarABTheflyingravenАй бұрын
Thanks for your thoughts. I have packed my gliders like this for many years, and have never seen any unormal wear and tear from it. Been tested at professionally paraglider service. Its also like this i learned to pack on my course back in 2009. And also how i recive the glider from fabric when its bought new.
@WuTangChillaBeeАй бұрын
@@JoarABTheflyingraven that would make sense because it seems quite an "old-school" method... dont see it any more. Concertina the whole wing, every cell together, this protects the rods and the complex internal structure of modern wings. I dont think the argument of SOME manufacturers sending new wings like this means it is a good idea for every day. (They are in the business of selling you a new wing, remember!) 😉 In my experience, Ozone, BGD, AirDesign and others send their new wings in full concertina, no fold in the middle. Just sayin!

What are your tips for keeping high aspect ratio gliders pinned to the ground (often the centre rises up) and also keeping the tips from folding in?
@JoarABTheflyingravenАй бұрын
To be honest, I haven't encountered this problem. That being said, i fly the base 2. High B . But i will try to ask around and get back to you :)
@JoarABTheflyingravenАй бұрын
Ref: bgd teampilot group It’s a balance of a little tension in the A lines not enough to lift the glider up about 200-300mm this then pushed the rest of the glider down. Too much brake will lifte the rear edge up. You have to find a balance.
@turkeyphantАй бұрын
@@JoarABTheflyingraven Thanks. I could do this fine with my other EN-B gliders but have big issues with the Explorer 2. Even though I keep light A pressure, using the rears at all and not even the brakes means the middle jumps up or I get cravats.
@JoarABTheflyingravenАй бұрын
@turkeyphant sounds like lightweight? In stronger wind, i try to do checks on my glider, not in the strongest wind area. Then get it when I'm ready. My lightweight seems to have an auto lunch function, too :p
@turkeyphantАй бұрын
@@JoarABTheflyingraven Yes Explorer 2 is a lightweight. And it does like to launch itself! The problem is I often need to wait for a lull to launch and while waiting it's impossible to keep it on the ground!

Its not useless. It is more things it dont brings ln to consideretion, like high altitude wind. But its still nice to get a heads up. Hey tomorrow it can be worth looking more in to the weather. At least that is my opinion :)
