Agree on most points, but I have to disagree about using 'modern english'. Han said 'I'll see you in Hell' in Empire when going out to rescue Luke on Hoth. Hell which which is a concept only derived from some religions on Earth which really should have no bearing in the Star Wars universe. I don't think many people would understand Han if he said "I'll see you in Sithspawn"...or even if understood would not have nearly the same impact.

I was wondering about that too, but figured they've had explosions before in Star Wars so just let it go.
@user-kz5gw7xe4oКүн бұрын
@@MovieRelated You can have an explosion in space because you have tanks of fuel, an oxidizer and a propellant. Otherwise, how would rockets work in space at all if you need an atmosphere? They don't. Jet engines require air; rockets carry their own oxidizers and propellants, so they don't need an atmosphere. Now, you could make the case that the space fire in 'The Acolyte' was being fed by venting gases. That would be fine, but the fire would look much different--like a blow torch. Instead, we see what looks like a campfire with flames being affected by wind currents. I guess they wanted the fire to look like the fire in Osha's memory, and they counted on the audience being uneducated about fires and the vacuum of space.

They have a strong special bond. That's why. "Oh, Sister, I love you! What? You wanna be a Jedi? I'm gonna kill you!" What a bond.
@jaiclary84233 күн бұрын
The problem here is they're mixing good criticism with terrible criticism and don't seem to understand the difference. I appreciate the good, but I'd encourage everyone not to take this whole video as gospel. Just as one example - the hair similarity between Osha and Mae. It's not the same, it's similar. In the real world, twins often display creepily similar similarities, even when raised apart. And oh yeah they're clearly a force dyad, so the hair is the hill you want to die on? That's just one example. Still, I appreciate what they get right, and I'd say overall the criticism is fair, what this review failed to do is appreciate the great moments, of which there are many. The fact of the matter is, the faults in this show are cringey, obvious, and completely unforgivable....and it's still the best recent Star Wars short of Andor.

Kinda funny cuz you two are pretty negative on a lot of specific points and not saying "yea I'm excited for more" ... but saying others are too harsh? I've watched a few vids now and maybe it's simply just click bait or maybe it's just 'sick of it' vs. 'still good natured'. But honestly seems like you're just on the other side of the fence. Personally I think it kinda stinks and do not like it for many of the reasons you listed. Except that twin thing everyone has an issue with but actually has roots in reality. Kinda freaky real phenomena. At first I watched hopefully but now I watch to mock... The dialog, the writing, the acting. It's just too dumb. Yes it could turn around... but I won't hold my breath.
@MovieRelated3 күн бұрын
I think we get tired of the trillions of videos that come out trashing the series before it even releases, like creators are trying to groom hate instead of be fair. But people seem to flock to that content so they keep doing it.

They’re characterizing the Jedi order as inept, hypocritical and flawed. I’m ok with a lot of the things you have complaints because of this. Like putting her on prisoner ship with only droids. Same with having a needless meeting. The only drawing lightsaber if you are willing to kill. That highlights their hypocrisy. They show the contrast when sol and yord approach osha. Yord grabs his saber. SOL reaches his hand out. SOL expresses his frustration at the needless meeting. They make an effort to show that Mae is not as skilled as the Jedi and her success comes from the ineptitude and flaws of the Jedi. I think it’s a good angle as we know the sith infiltrate the republic between now and ep 1 without the Jedi knowing. It makes sense the Jedi are dumb. That being said the show isn’t perfect. It’s ok so far. They really haven’t gotten us invested in osha because they tell us her motivation but don’t allow us to experience them with her. That’s my only big complaint. There are nitpicks about makeup on the meditative Jedi, meh dialogue… Overall tho it can go either way.

Making the Jedi dumb is lazy writing. A victory over an inept opponent isn't anything worth celebrating. So if your villain is victorious against the Jedi, who cares? The Jedi were idiots, so what your villain accomplished is nothing special. Meaning your villain is nothing special. Palpatine overthrew the republic. It's not that the Jedi were inept. He just did better, and that makes him all the more impressive. If the Jedi were idiots, then so what if Palpatine defeated them? Anyone can defeat idiots.
@MrInfinity418Күн бұрын
@@user-kz5gw7xe4o it contextualizes the flaws of the Jedi. It shows what he exploited to win highlighting the strategic and mental victory. Showing that it wasn’t the lack of strength of Jedi like yoda or mace but the exploit of the broken dogmatic Jedi order. It’s always been the lore that sidious won by exploiting the ineptitude of the Jedi. Lucas based it on Nixon originally then dick Chaney taking advantage of weak democratic opposition to seize power. With the democratcs concerned more with in fighting and concern more of optics than what’s right. When good becomes complacent, evil will thrive. Not trying to start a political discussion just citing Lucas intent.Lucas has openly talked of this and even named characters in the prequels after politicians of the 90s. This show is just fleshing out the idea of a group causing its own failure.
