Al Stewart has been a favorite of mine for over forty years, so I was excited to find out he was playing in Sherman, TX, on July 20, as part of the city's Hot Summer Nights outdoor concert series. He was accompanied by a band from Chicago, The Empty Pockets, and they played an awesome show, with the biggest applause for this song, of course. It was especially amazing, considering he's going to be eighty (80) next year.

I absolutely love the "Tango In The Night" album. It's one album I can listen to from start to finish without skipping any songs.

I'm a Hollies fan but liked their earlier music best. Look through any window is my favourite.

Georgy Girl for me always summed up the swinging sixties. Judith's voice is amazing.

He was in his 60s when he sang this, his voice hadn't really changed over the years. A true artist. Along with Comfortable Numb always brings tears to my eyes.

Great reaction. Managed to get past the BBC censor, unlike the Stones, Frankie Goes to Hollywood, etc! Anything by the Kinks is worth listing to, very English, but great words and fine tunes.

Maraccas were very cool in the 60s, but often just a means of giving a vocalist who couyldn't play anything else something to do. Every would-be band would try them as a cool alternative to the tambourine (too much Salvation Army).

Michael Hutchence was a genuinely great singer, made the cadence and timing look and feel effortless, almost conversational. He's also loud though, which gives that conversational type of cadence a completely different feel and impact. He's also loud without strain or effort so that his singing feels intimate (like a conversation) but impactful. He had an immense gift. We were lucky to have him around.

I have never thought about that, but there is actually a little bit similar vibes in Pink Floyd songs, besides The Wall album also "Shine on you Crazy Diamond" and "High Hopes". Thank you for that paralel.

Considering that this was recorded in 1977, and both Meat Loaf and Jim Steinman (the songwriter and producer) were born in 1947, then this would have been likely set early 1960s (perhaps including some of the late 1950s).
