The blue light from an LCD or OLED screen is of a very specific frequency. This means that if your glasses have any effect at all on the blue light that your screen is emitting, there will be no blue at all. If you can't see any difference in the blue, that means the glasses aren't blocking any of the light emitted by your LCD/OLED.

Hey Mark, question from the States. I just saw the measurements and I’m a bit concerned on the depth and height. Seems a bit small but I’m loving the design. How did you feel on the capacity? Could I use this as a gym/work backpack?
@ThatMarkGilroy2 күн бұрын
Hello mate. Yep, it could stand to be a touch bigger, but I've been using it daily commuting from home to my studio. It's usually got my laptop/tablet/battery bank, plus my camera, mouse, headphones etc, and occasionally some clothing too. I put a camera insert in the main compartment to add a bit of padding. Would definitely work for a gym backpack but perhaps not big enough to carry separate shoes in.

The notes update looks good and as a science teacher the calculator app with graphing looks very interesting especially the dynamic adjustment of variables in equations.

I wondered what you’d make of it Ray! Yes it looks like there’ll now be a lot of ways native apps can use context to integrate with one another. The ‘play me the podcast my wife sent me yesterday’ example is interesting.

If Apple wants iPad to be a companion to the Mac I think we need the following more Mac apps: We could’ve had an upgrade to swift playgrounds to make it more like Xcode. I like the idea of the ability to remote on a Mac. Subscription based if you don’t have one (because it’s a VM on cloud) or free if you do have a Mac.

I've found Macs in general to be a nightmare with studio recording setups where video and multiple monitors come into play. I was constantly having to plug/unplug/reboot to get video devices to work and even to get additional monitors to work correctly. I got a custom-built Intel NUC running Windows, just for content creation and have never had a device or monitor-related issue since. I've been using my iPad with a GlideGear TMP 100 for years now, and it isn't a terrible setup, but the Elgato seems miles better than my current ~7lb/3kg teleprompter setup. I don't really plan on using Elgato's software, I just need the Prompter to show up as a separate monitor. (It's also worth noting that I briefly tried using Linux, but since I also use this setup with meeting software, and it can be a huge challenge on Linux to share apps and screens, I gave up on that pretty quickly).

You say in first section, there are two groups of people. One who wants to use ipad as macbook. Then your last ‘great’ suggestion is only letting ipad be used as an imac? Wouldn’t solve anything for the millions that want more useful ipad on the go…
@ThatMarkGilroy5 күн бұрын
Absolutely - my last suggestion is about context. So under this scenario, and iPad is an iPad until you hook it up to a monitor/keyboard/mouse, and then it becomes a much more laptop like machine - Dex style. Unhook it, it becomes an iPad again. I honestly think this would solve most of the issues people seem to have with putting it in a box: make two boxes.

@@ThatMarkGilroy your tunnelling idea I’m basically doing now. I use an app called Remotix to connect to my Mac Mini when I need to use MacOS. Works great. The only annoying thing is, my iPad is more powerful than my MacMini, but i’m just using iPad as a screen.

I think the iPad is a great tablet, attached to a keyboard it’s a touchscreen netbook. The iPad would never have macOS or windows full capabilities. The iPad is for casual portable computing use cases. People who purchase iPads know what they will do with it.

@ThatMarkGilroy6 күн бұрын
I think ‘capable’ is the key word here. You could also argue they made MacOS *too* capable. Once you’ve used it it’s really hard to use anything that feels/looks remotely like a laptop because it’ll automatically not be capable enough.

Dex (or Apple’s version of it) would be PERFECT on the Mini. I wonder if they’ll make it a VisionOS thing instead.

iPadOS needs to be a bridge between iOS and MacOS, as for consumers, the iPad is expensive, and for business iPadOS isn’t compatible enough, there needs to be the ability to download apps from online and not just the App Store as many businesses will not be able or bothered making an app for the App Store and it’s just downloadable from the internet features like that could make the iPad a very popular device for both home consumers and businesses

It fits the budget, also fits in my small purse. It doesn’t replace my macbook and iPhone, but it can do a ton of things. I use it daily for note taking (both with apple pen and 3rd party keyboard), drawing, online meeting, reading articles, watching videos, playing video games, social medias, and as an extension of my macbook (using handoff). I even plugged it on HDMI to TV to watch movies in bigger screen (the battery longevity surprises me). Is 64gb enough? Surprisingly, yes. Mine doesn’t even take up half of the space.

I no longer carry a phone since I purchased an Apple Watch with cellular. My iPhone permanently lives in my cars center console where it stays connected wirelessly to my vehicles hands free systems. I keep it charged via the USB port within the console. The iPad mini 6 is my go to, go anywhere device. Reading, surfing, banking … everything. Small device with a large screen, what more could I ask for? I also own an I pad pro that mostly collects dust as I found the size and weight to be cumbersome and uncomfortable for casual usage. If Apple came out with an iPad mini pro, or some other type of high end mini, I would purchase it in a heart beat.
