Well you reached 100 subs. Congratulations. I don't know if it's as clear cut because isn't magic one of the Specter's weaknesses? I still think he would probably win but I think it's fairly close.

For a bit I actually dropped to 98 subs but when I woke this morning it was up to 100. I did mess up one thing. When Dr Fate got blasted he actually simply allowed the energy to pass through his body and went invisible giving the impression that he was obliterated but he generally even brags about being entirely invincible. After his change in issue 72, Dr Fate became incredibly vulnerable. I didn't follow what you said. Are you giving the victory to The Spectre?

@@TestChannel-hm8gh well without the ring of life, I'm not so sure. I think it would be a fairly equal fight but if I had to choose I would probably still take the Spectre but I could definitely see Dr. Fate winning as well. They are both ridiculously OP so it's kind of a toss up in my opinion.

I just found that The Spectre struggled quite a bit against just about any non-normal opponent and was constantly getting assistance. He was shown to be straight up weaker than Zor. Of course Jerry Siegel and Gardner Fox are simply different writers and Fox may not have had an issue with his character beating down every opponent in sight and he did have only 6 pages to work with rather than the 10 that Siegel had so maybe he didn't feel there was enough time to have Fate struggle. There are lots of channels doing these comparisons but at the end of the day the winner will be whoever the writer wants to win. If the writer wants Wildcat to punch out Mordru than punch him out he will.

I love just the bat crap insane stuff that happens in golden age comics, especially the Specter. Like I've said before, the silver age is just as insane but in a different way. In either era though, you literally never know what's going to happen on the next page. Even though the progression is almost always similar, if not outright the same, but the details can be off the wall nuts. If nothing else, it's entertaining.

@TestChannel-hm8gh 4 күн бұрын
I hadn't really thought of anything for my 100th sub. One thing I am planning on doing in the very near future is a battle between The Spectre and Dr Fate and who would win. The obvious answer is The Spectre in an easy victory but if we limit them to the Golden Age and take away The Spectre's Ring of Life I'm not sure he'd win. This would be prior to both of them essentially becoming joke characters. I only have one more Spectre story to finish (but a bunch left to publish) and I'm about to do the final Fate story before his helmet was truncate and he became ridiculous.

Curt Swan was basically a bridge artist between the Silver and Bronze Age and had a style that fit in both. The Silver Age was when writers finally got a handle on how to manage super heroes. With all due respect to the Golden Age, the stories were often very repetitive and tiresome. The Silver Age clearly didn't give a damn about continuity, logic or gaping plot holes and although I'd generally ding a story for these things the Silver Age was just so much fun that I overlook them.

It's against Superman's code to kill, but I guess it's okay to trick someone into committing sui cid. The explanation for Superman's powers evolved over the years. When I was reading the comics in the late 1960s, it was a combination of Earth's yellow sun and lesser gravity. It seems they hadn't come up with the red sun explanation when they wrote this story.
