My 70s pto calls for 10 weight non detergent. Edit: i went change the first reduction case oil snd it just kept running out. Found it was also draining the transmission oil. Any thoughts? Anyone?

Interesting. My Dad said that the engine rocking after shutdown on our model 60 gasser was the sign of a healthy engine with good compression. Never had flywheel problems, although my Uncle's AR once did.
@oakwoodstockfarm7017Ай бұрын
It’s something with the big diesel engines, they were known for loosening up the flywheels so the decompression helped mitigate that. Not so big of a deal on the small gassers. My 50 has an overhauled motor and rocks pretty good at shut down

Did you have it run for a while before adjusting the oil pressure or did you adjust it right after starting?
@oakwoodstockfarm70174 ай бұрын
It was cold, and the pressure adjustment work out perfect. When it gets warm, the oil thins out and reduces the pressure. So keep that in mind while making the adjustment
@garvindreis4 ай бұрын
@oakwoodstockfarm7017 ywa, that's when I would do it, it would start and maintain alright, but as soon as I reduced the rpm, the pressure would drop and going to full throttle wouldn't have it recover, figured it's that setting it while it's 10w but when it's warm and at 30w, it's a little too light.

Really amazing job. You did forget the fuel filters though right? I am asking as I just purchased mine and am following your video. I also put created directions on msword with your pics. I do have a question, my oils were not that good, but ok. My PowRtrol still has a black thick slimey goo that is just a touch to thick to drain out by itself. Shocking to see it in a hydraulic system??? I am thinking of shoving a steam cleaner into the fill hole and letting it heat, pew and puke? What do you think? Did you want the msword doc? You can share it if so. Its handy.
@oakwoodstockfarm70175 ай бұрын
There are two fuel filters, 1st and 2nd stage. The 1st gets replaced every 450 hrs or so. The 2nd typically at major overhaul. Regarding your powertrol, a guy could throw some diesel fuel in there and run your hydraulics, making sure that it gets heated up. It’ll probably require a full tear down as you’ll most likely find that the internal seals are junk. I highly suggest picking up an operators manual, loads of info in them on the maintenance of these old gals

@ianrobinson95653 ай бұрын
Yes as long as you have an externally earthed field in your generator. This video is demonstrating that. However if battery was applied to the field terminal then that would be a dead short to earth. When I polarise a generator I always disconnect the two wires from the generator.
