I don't hate Chinese. But as far as I know, they are people who are too strict with their children. Some of their children don't even get the opportunity to take music lessons or have talents outside of school. They are really too disciplined

Ohio State University has an excellent Mandarin program that instructs in naturally spoken Chinese in a wide variety of real life situations. They don't really have a textbook, they mainly are using role-playing and an audio CD that you listen and repeat drills every day. That style works really well, I think. The Pimsleur course is similar to this; however in both cases they focus only on Chinese mandarin, not Taiwanese mandarin. 😞
@ceciliachenchineseАй бұрын
謝謝分享!希望台灣的大學也可以這樣
@oiocha5706Ай бұрын
I've always wondered why they keep producing textbooks that only teach "textbook mandarin." Students really need more resources that teach real-life colloquially spoken mandarin that we can use to immediately begin communicating with locals in a way that feels natural to them

I am just wondering why /zh/ sound in Chinese should be pronounced like /tr/ in English voice without roll a tongue, right? Why I still hear the sound z when you pronounced /zh/ in Chinese
@ceciliachenchineseАй бұрын
Hi! I think it’s more like /ts/ And in Taiwan, people tend to not roll the tongue. I mean any sounds that you suppose to roll the tongue (zhi, chi, shi, ri, er) in Taiwan we almost don’t do it. That’s why 😊
@ZoidmatrixАй бұрын
That's why i don't like pinyin. It's very confusing to me. Even after 4 years i often have to think twice. Otherwise my mind will read it as German. I'm glad i learned zhuyin because its not confusing, the rules are simpler and i can ask Taiwanese people to help me write down pronunciation 😊
@ZoidmatrixАй бұрын
Sometimes people are surprised I learned zhuyin and are impressed. But compared to learning Chinese characters, learning the couple ㄅㄆㄇㄈ symbols is no problem at all 😅

I am so glad that you learn Zhuyin and you find it helpful ☺️ Yes! Learning Zhuyin definitely impress Taiwanese people since this is like a very Taiwanese thing 😁

And I would say only if you are a mandarin teacher, otherwise Taiwanese people don’t know Pinyin at all.
