They work like machines. Amazing. I'm surprised they don't come to the States to build ships. I live right by the biggest shipyard in the world, or so my friends say. They build aircraft carriers and nuclear submarines and all kinds of Navy and Marine ships and boats here in Newport News, Virginia. We have the biggest Navy base too according to my buddies. Hopefully you'll sail this way some day and see it all. It's fascinating. Cargo and other ships and boats are made here too. You can see it all going past the pier I fish on after work a lot of evenings.

Always conventional, we run ours daily when out, so if it breaks down im -1 day and rationing can ensue quickly.

Question - watermaker's likely to be pretty critical on long journey's when you want to ensure that you don't carry too much weight in the tanks. Is it worth having more than one potentially smaller ones (so the weight isn't excessively more)- potentially one efficient clark type one and one of the more conventional ones that can sit pickled and be used as a backup or potentially when not so needed. Rather than running it every 2 to 3 days you'd then run it every day or so. The other alternative would be to have 2 small efficient ones with one running when you're short crewed and both running when you're fully crewed.
