Have been to basecamp. And slept in nearby monastery. Could not sleep at all because of the altitude, about 5200 meters. Heart rate does not slow down even in rest. Great respect for climbers, especially those without oxygen!

Thanks for this. I’ve been fascinated with Everest ever since learning about it on a field trip to the IMAX theater in Elementary School. Not sure if I’m that motivated to climb it, but man, just the thought of standing up there is awesome.

Damn! Looks exhausting just the distance you have to travel alone! When you factor in the altitude, lack of air, the incline, the weather/temperature extremes…..with my heart condition, this is not something I could remotely BS being able to do…..

We need to find a way to supplement Sherpa incomes sustainably so that they can ban tourists from coming, even to just base camp. If you disagree, you’re probably one of the people I’m talking about keeping away from the Hilimaya.

Good job. It would be to very hepfull to mark the distances like every 100 or 500 meters or something from the begining to the summit. Thanks

Most people dont realize that climbing everest is a) a very long process because your body has at be accustomed to these different heights. You go to camp 1 and then go back to base camp. At some point you get to camp 2 and down again. You will spend months on that mountain before you have a very small window to try for the summit. b) its very expensive and you its best to find someone to sponsor you, because paying this one out of your own pocket is the cost of a house.

Aprendi muito com as explicações detalhadas. Mas, deixarei pra conhecer daqui a uns 200 ou 300 anos, quando a segurança for aumentada.
