The traffic flow is more than 10,000 cars on daily basis and you call it a failure. 😂😂😂😂

1. Average now is about 8900 per day as per South China Morning Post. 2. That equals 3 cars per minute in each direction...which yes: Is a huge failure for 55km of 3 lane roads bridges and tunnels.

It is incomprehensible that HK taxis only accept cash. Imagine travellers arriving at HK international airport and being told by the taxi queue staff “HK dollar only”. Asia’s world city? Pardon? It’s all about vested interests.

There used to be nissan cedric Y31 taxis on the road, i heard that it is difficult to source spare parts and not reliable compared to the crown comfort, taxi companies all go for toyota. LPG is the only source of fuel for taxis in HK, thus no other cars were factory fitted with LPG besides the crown comfort, nissan cedric Y31 and the current JPN taxi(called comfort taxi in hk market). Which makes no choice for other brands. Why not you say as for now Toyota is reliable for business vehicles ?😂

Great video but your wrong about Macau. Just like Hong Kong they drive on the left like here in the UK, not on the right. This was due to Macau being a former Portuguese colony and at that time, Portugal also drove on the left before switching to the right some years later but Macau never did follow suit.

"absolute success" is no argument, it's just an emotional statement. Also they used the money from Hong Kong taxpayers, most of which cannot use their own car to drive across the bridge. The ones that have a license still need to pay money to cross and then park their cars at the checkpoint.

It seems like they will have to switch left-driving Hong-Kong to right-driving. Then reduce bureaucracy for both private and business vehicles. Minimise toll tarifs; to match perceived benefits to cost in the minds of users.

I have fond memories growing up in HK in the early 80's i was 6 years old and used to get myself from school in Kowloon back home on HK island by bus, Star Ferry and a taxi. It was so long ago but i still remember the plastic seat covers and the meter flag the driver would drop when the fair started. I loved all the extra green lite up plastic markers on the corners of the bonnet (hood) they added to them. The taxis are some of the strongest memories I have of Hong Kong.

Things are not making progress because the major shareholders of Hong Kong's taxi fleets are in fact a few powerful lawmakers of the city. They want to maximize profit, nothing else. That's why they don't even have Uber.

How do they solve left hand right hand driving between the cities?
@canto_v12
@canto_v12 7 ай бұрын
Two clarifications that I wanted to make since this video is so recent: 1. With the Crown Comfort out of production since 2018, the JPN Taxi has been the standard taxi model sold in Hong Kong since 2018. Toyota modified the JPN Taxi to be an LPG-based hybrid, just for Hong Kong's market. The Hong Kong export model is named "Toyota Comfort Hybrid," ditching the JPN Taxi name for obvious reasons. 2. One important weakness of the old Crown Comfort is the fact that it is an early 1990s design that has seen very few changes. Compared to modern passenger cars it has very poor crash safety. And one important reason why the old cars stayed for so long is because Hong Kong's taxi fares are surprisingly low compared to most major world cities. The taxi operators literally couldn't afford to upgrade until Toyota ended production of the old model in 2018.

The design is actually from early 80's not 90's. Comfort is facelifted 1983 Crown. Toyota Corolla 1992 looks much more modern. In Tenerife spain there is even Mercedes W124 and even w123 models. They just don't look old like HK cabs, but they are 30-40 years old. And Spain is not developing country. Meanwhile in Scandinavia taxi owners change their Mercedes or Tesla every 2 years.
@canto_v12

@@LukeSkywalker-uu2us the Crown Comfort was an extended wheelbase version of the Toyota Comfort taxi. Both versions have been used in Japan since 1995, but only the longer version is used in Hong Kong.

On KZfaq, at least half of the videos about China's high-speed rail are about how to lose money. These people will always focus on whether it is profitable as the main reference point. They will never pay attention to how much the opening of these high-speed rail lines will improve the local people, the local government, and the entire country's economy. The government cannot invest in all public facilities in pursuit of profits, otherwise China will be the next United States. And the most important point is that no one needs to worry about China’s hundreds of millions of middle-class people traveling on high-speed rail and being unable to afford the fare.

The argument of the video is that the ticket price is too high for the average Chinese citizen. The video is not about the system losing money.
