Do you think a MSR Dragon Fly stove would work for the heat source or is that too much heat? Thanks
@planetsideagent
@planetsideagent Күн бұрын
I don't have a dragon fly to check with but looking at photos it may be to big to fit in the wind screen, the feed hose fitting may not fit thru the air holes, and it doesn't look like you can access the valve. I haven't tried it yet but a remote butane burner may work. I have one and I'll have to give it a try.

It's a cool little kit. If the lid for the tin were removeable, it might work well as a lid for the cup too? I think I'm going to have to add that canteen kit to my own collection.

I must have bought some blue Gaz fuel cannisters when one style was being phased out to another.. circa 1995 . I just got an adapter for butane-mix cans to the 16oz propane bottles..and found the threads dont match on what I think is a bluet camp stove female outlet..duh. Its just a compact stove to always keep in a vehicle for emergency cups of hot tea..and the 16oz canisters are available everywhere..whereas i used to only find backpacking gaz cannisters in backpacking stores...in the cilties. NZ now has 16oz bottles. Thanks for illuminating the history there.

Bro are the compass bands shown in the last part compatible with Metallic silver buckle type watches and what are the pros and cons of using compass watchbands in today's world ?? Bro can you recommend or share some other useful tools/accessories like this compass watchbands (for ex:- Chronograph temperature meter or altitude meterwith strap etc...) that enhances the aesthetic of analog watches
@planetsideagent
@planetsideagent 2 күн бұрын
I don't think they will work on a metallic band, those bands are thicker than the plastic type bands and the compass fits pretty snug on my Sunto watch band. I haven't seen any other watch band gadgets, I think you can still find soft metal monthly calendars that are made for watch bands. The big draw back on the watch band compass is that it hangs up on my pants pockets when i put my hand in. Same goes for those huge watches.

Bro is it worth buying such compass wristbands in today's world espeically for classic analog watch users and does it look aesthetic and cool?? BTW i had ordered the last one which is similar to the last one in this video.Also can i use it on my 19mm,20mm,21mm,24mm or 25mm Rubber and silicone watch straps bro?? Are the compass watchbands durable and are they good for classic people like us who use Analog watch straps in today's world??

Are those German Army butter dishes on your counter? If so, do those fit in the kit? If they don't, those dollar store round tins, the larger one fits nicely at the bottom of $5 cup, and it looks like they'd be the right height to support the new pot. I use those with a tape wrap to make them nearly water tight to carry my brew kit and a light, which lifts a Nalgene so its easier to get out of some of my pouches.

Holy cow, are they so expensive in the USA? I think I paid about 20 euros for mine 10 or 15 years ago and it's the stainless version. But of course I live in Finland, Sweden is our neighbouring country. There was a lot of Swedish military surplus for sale here real cheap back then. It's a great kit, though a little on the heavy side, very high quality and reliable.

I think pretty much anything you've done with the old Stanley cook kit you can do with the new one. The only noticeable difference is the size of the pots themselves, the new one being slightly larger in almost every dimension. The only problem you might have would be if you're nesting the pot inside something else, such as the $5 Ozark Trail SS cup from Wally World. In that case, because the bulge on the new pot is set lower than on the old pot, the new pot doesn't fit entirely inside the cup, but leaves about 1"+ of "dead space" in the bottom of the cup. Of course, you can always use that to store small items, such as a lighter, collapsible silverware, etc., so it's not a one-way trade-off.
@planetsideagent
@planetsideagent 18 күн бұрын
yep, nesting the pot into something else might be an issue. the base is 1/4 wider, the flare is lower and the new lid might not work on cups and pots. The extra room inside is nice

one thing i have done at times with the trangia burner stands when i have a oddball shape pot. that just loves too titter when put on the stand right up, is flip the stand over so you have a full ring around your flame insted of 3 point or 2 point contact. this new video just re-inforces what i said the other day. i'll stick with my older stanely pot. the only thing i can see is for stanley too widen the pot all the way down to the bottom. get rid of that narrowing at mid point.

You are missing one of the main advantages of the Stanley Adventure Cook Set! The butterfly handle stainless steel cup from Walmart (or Pathfinder) fits perfectly on the bottom making the two plastic cups unnecessary. The lid also fits the Walmart cup giving you two pots if desired. This frees up the entire interior of the pot. For example, it holds two small gas cans (when inverted) a mini Bic lighter, a small sponge, and the BRS Stove 3000T. You can also fit a flexible windscreen, Trangia stove, two-piece cross stand, small fuel bottle, cleaning sponge, and mini Bic lighter. I like the cups a lot but I put them with other camping kits. The advantage of having a metal cup that can double as a small cooking pot is too great to pass up.

The cups are nice in cooler weather to keep liquids warm. The 18 oz Ozark trail cork bottom cup and 10oz cork bottom tumbler lids from wally world fit the cups perfectly too. I have the stainless cup but I'm keeping one with the lid in the cooler months for sure. There's plenty of room for extras in the orca h20 bottle bag.

the 1 thing i see is the sides are not drilled for hanging with a fish jaw opener over a fire. i have a older stanley with that option on mine. the other thing i do is, i put 2 of the 4 oz cans butane inside the pot. an have the coleman version of a msr pocket rocket stove sitting in the bag on top. did replace the plastic lid handle with a split ring handle. what i see with the new pot an trying to nest items together is a lot of wasted space.

Interesting differences. One thing you might want to check would be if the new one still nests inside the GSI and/or Wall-mart SS cup. The older one could fit inside one of these cups, giving you two containers instead of just the one for the same space. I do like the new lid. I heard of issues with melting the older lid tab because it is plastic.
