"Unrivaled", the new women's professional basketball league headed by Briana Stuart and Naphessa Collier is so exciting for all of us UCONN women's basketball fans because Brianna and Naphessa are former UCONN stars! Have you talked about this and I missed it? If not, I hope you do!

It is way too difficult to perform the calculus on an undefeated season for UConn at the present time. I think the big question is how well will all of these new players gel with the veterans. There are so many variables to this team this year. Peace! Ps. I would be honored to join your show again.

Agreeing with a previous comment here. Bascoe going to Villanova is a major threat. Georgetown has confidence to give UCONN problems. Creighton will be out for the kill those 4th and 5th year players have not beaten Paige / UCONN outright. Our defense, fouls (setting screens🤦♀️) and unforced errors will truly be tested again this year.

When they say Breanna Stewart, won championships, all four years, I would like to remind them, that Morgan Tuck, and Moriah Jefferson were in the same class as Breanna Stewart, and they also won four championships. Breanna Stewart was the best player in that class, but Morgan Tuck, and Moriah Jefferson were also very good players, and together the three of them won four championships.

The second best women’s basketball team in the Big East will be sitting on UConn’s bench! Wish you would do an injury recovery report on what the status is of DeCharme, Fudd, Patterson and Griffin is at this point. Can’t find any info in this regard.
@TheDisruptiveOne4 күн бұрын
there is nothing to report really on those four. None of them are cleared for 5x5 right now. Ducharme would probably be the most questionable, because I really didn't see her at all during the summer session that just wrapped up.
@TheDisruptiveOne4 күн бұрын
Returning first team all conference players? Bueckers, Maly, Jensen, and Ransom. Maddie Burke? One to watch? No. She's not that good. I think freshman Bascoe at Villanova will probably be one of their more interesting players. Maybe a non-uconn player in the freshman of the year race? I think Nova and Marquette will be way down. St. John's, Georgetown, and Seton Hall actually know how to use the portal. So they will be in the upper middle part of the conference. Butler has shown progress each year. So, it will be interesting to see if that continues. Xavier will be bringing up the rear of the conference like usual.
@TheDisruptiveOne4 күн бұрын
Once again the big east will be way down. They lost a lot of good players via the portal. There is no biggest threat. Creighton and Georgetown will battle for second place.

Fan since the early 90s, my first Final 4 was 1995 in Minn - and it inspired me to attend all but 2 years since! Can't wait to see a season FINALLY where there is a deep bench, and time for the young players to learn and integrate at their own pace. I suspect that Strong may start, but that the veterans (including Chen) will be on the court a lot. KK and Shay will learn a lot from everyone who was injured last year, and bring into their junior year a swagger not seen for a LONG time...when Paige, Azzi (though hope she might play another year), Griffin depart for the WNBA, we will not lose a beat - just as Dawn's team did this year!

Paige Bueckers is the greatest women's basketball player we've ever had at UCONN. She's needs a National Championship to complete the picture and she's at the only place on earth, UCONN, that knows how to win National Championships having racked up 11. How many more National Championships will they win before Geno and Chris leave in 5 years?
@warrenhumphrey23617 күн бұрын
While Paige is a very, very good player, she is not the greatest player we have ever had at UCONN. That claim says Rebecca Lobo, Diana Taurasi, Maya Moore, and Brianna Stewart are inferior to Paige. They are not. Depending on how you want to evaluate Sue Bird and Tina Charles, Paige might not make the starting five. As you point out, Paige needs a National Championship to complete her picture. Without it, she becomes Ann Strother, Megan Walker, or Christyn Williams.
@september91137 күн бұрын
That's the problem. Why talk about what you're gonna do just go out and play? I'm looking for Azzi Fudd to get her championship too. Girl has been through it.

It will be interesting to see how Paige plays when she no longer has to put up 25 to 35 points a night to win. The last time she was able to relax and be herself was her freshman year. Remind me what award she won that year again? 😉 Peace!

Just as people often waste time and fail to recognize the value of TIME until they're ill or something takes them completely out of order. Paige and the team went through that and should now recognize the value of TIME. It's this season for the greatest player in women's basketball: Bueckers. Still, it is a team game. From Geno through all the coaches and players, it's important to always work toward that one goal. I think it's important for the sport, for the record it creates, and even to show young girls. The excellence of a great UConn game is an inspiration to the world.

I hope Paige can win the championship. Fair or not. This is UConn. You can’t be on the UConn Mount Rushmore without a championship. A championship and another player of the year award and we can have a discussion about whether she has done enough to supplant either bird or Taurasi all time at UConn. (Stewart and Moore are out of reach no matter what imo.)

Hi fella's. Can you please clear something up for me and many others??? Paige has played in 3 seasons and this upcoming year is said to be her last CBB season of eligibility however does she NOT have 2 years left??? I ask this as I believe that she has a COVID exemption and could return for the '25 - '26 year. It's clear that she doesn't need the $$$ from a rookie contract and she has said sooo many times how much she loves playing at UCONN. Please clear this up for me so I can rest my mind on this topic. GO HUSKIES. Love your vlogs and your take on all things UCONN WBB!!!

she has one more year of eligibility after this year because she has both her redshirt year and covid year. but she has said that this is going to be her last year and will most likely declare at the end of the year for the wnba draft.

13:19 There will be some injuries Caroline is one. Aubrey wont be. ready until January. Azzi will be brought back slowly. There will be a couple new injuries. He had to fill the roster. Look at the last 2 years. They didn't have enough players to practice. Because of these reasons they will all get their chances. Geno always says force me to play you. 10 will play decent minutes. 3 will play inconsistent minutes. 2 or 3 unfortunately will be hurt
@BillyBobCooter10 күн бұрын
the roster is stacked with talent on talent, unfortunately some of these starters from last season will be pushed out the door to benchwarmers this season including Patterson, Brady, Shade, and will result in multiple transfers out end season.

No one wants to watch their career regress. I can’t imagine a player would be happy to play 30 minutes per game as a freshman. And 3 minutes as a sophomore.
@TheDisruptiveOne10 күн бұрын
One thing I will say. No one got the starting lineup right last year. And that’s because Geno went crazy and started Caroline. And he was wrong to do so. He just couldn’t let go of ten good games she played during her freshman season. No one should ever claim that Geno isn’t loyal. Bueckers Chen Fudd Strong El alfy I think that is what Geno will do.

#1 K.K., Kaitlyn; #2 Azzi, K.K. (maybe); #3 Paige, Carol, Sarah; #4 Ashlynn, Qadence, Aubrey, Ayanna; #5 Jana, Ice, Sarah Have I forgotten anyone? There needs to be some flexibility, such as Paige playing any spot as needed. I don't know Sarah's game, so we will want to learn if she's good at #3, #4, and #5 ? Health is an issue, so we don't know a lot of these lineup possibilities yet. There are some players we think we know, but can Kaitlyn assist and shoot the 3 like Paige? Can K.K. shoot the 3 consistently well? Can they play well together? It takes time to see a team gel (see last year's painful start). I wonder where Morgan or Allie will fit in. How much do they need to learn to get on the floor? That's a lot of players, and there are more than 7 who can play at any given moment. Some will have to have seen Jana, Paige, Aubrey, Ayanna, sitting in recent years, so they too will have to be patient and develop skills.
@TheDisruptiveOne10 күн бұрын
No minutes for Morgan, Caroline, and Allie. And Q is in danger of falling into that group. And Geno can say whatever he wants. One thing we know about him is he likes a thin rotation. 9 players at the most.
@terryfan77010 күн бұрын
Can’t wait to see the defense improve when they are not worried about foul trouble and are rested. Kk on the press is a beast. Watching Sarah on the u18’s she is very quick with her hands and anticipates well and chases down on blocks. Paige did such an incredible job blocking shots last year and got stronger. Aubrey will be a defensive star as usual and Azzi is a smart and willing defender. Ashlyn was solid also. Jana looks strong and aggressive but the big strong athletic front lines like S Carolina will still give be hard to defend and overcome. At the very least we will be an extremely smart and adaptable defense.

About the quote: I suspect in todays world where 'image is everything', there is a fine line between team loyalty and self-marketing. The rules of loyalty changed once college level players earned the right to get a payday. The competition to get to the WNBA is fierce, and the more a player can stand out the better. Sometimes it can be an easy choice for a player to jump ship when it is in their best interests. Other times, it can be a disaster. (Looking at you Hailey Van Lith.) Stay cool, fellas. Peace!
@brorick547210 күн бұрын
When the coaches sign players from the portal and play them ahead of the players, they recruit how loyal is this? Chen is hoping the same thing happens to her that happened to Lou Lopez and Dorka. A spot in the WNBA. If a player is healthy and sits the bench, they can not get that year back. For some players, it's not all about the monies. They want to play get better and contribute to the win.
@brorick547211 күн бұрын
Last season, with all the injuries, Ice,Q, and Inez weren't given a fair shake. Now, two out of the three freshmen are guards. Several of last year's injured players are guards. The starters last season: Paige, Ash, and KK guards. And then they sign Chen who will play big time! Sometimes, players jump into the portal because they just want to play the game. .
@JohnViolette011 күн бұрын
A lot of those 1000 transfers were probably looking for opportunity more than wins. Obviously most players would like to experience both, but ultimately a player's personal future ought to be their main concern.
@lindsaymathews512711 күн бұрын
On the topic of a player's mind set...I think Geno recruits players who understand that if they come to UCONN it's all about winning another National Championship. It's all about winning. If a player can's stand the pressure, then they shouldn't come to UCONN, but to go a school that is not in contention for winning a National Championship. I watch UCONN basketball because I expect them to win National Championships, not because I just like to watch basketball. That's what UCONN is all about on the women's side and on the men's side.
