It happened after the pandemic because of the shortage of parts not only with Ford, its intended to come with those parts stock, then they rethink and put some items as an extra package, so even people which have PAID by the complete pack didn't receive but where put on a list to be warned about the replacement when the parts are available, in every case yes, it makes the conversion faster. Some have REAL speakers with dummy amp, some have both as dummies, check it because it's a very good stock speaker.

Some of the bronco thru COVID didnt get the chips they needed to build the amps, the original owners signed a waver to acknowledge that.

GM did this as well on the 2003-2008 Trailblazer, if you opted for the premium sound system it would have a working Sub and amp in it, possibly what FoMoCos thought process was here as well

For those who have never seen an assembly line that has a lot of automation on it. To keep everything in time working at the optimal pace. Dummy’s are use to because the next step in the process might require or rely on a part being there even if that part does not function as it is intended. I. This example the same panel is used with or without a functioning sub. The dummy sub and amp fill the void and I am just guessing deaden the sound, keep the panel from vibrating, and from being crushed if you overload the cargo area.

Have the Everglades and pull a Forest River Ozark 14ft. Close to 3k lbs. Everglades unloaded I get 19mpg. Towing I haven’t had a problem with the winch blocking the intercooler

Honda used to install speakers into cars that didn't have radios (they were an option), it was cheaper to install the speakers than change the assy line.

All car companies do things like this. There are many configurations and options on cars, not all cars come fully equipped, and some models come with options that are not available on higher end models. Also oem's share parts across different platforms all the time. (Source: been working on cars for like 20sum years)

It probably works, its cheaper to install during production, and hope you pay for the option, like mopar infotainment systems, unlocked or upload in 5 minutes, not a system change from a sxt to a scat pack

Ford had trouble sourcing chips for the amps, in effort to keep production moving they decided not to change any production processes and simply install dummy speaker and amp, obviously reflecting price should it actually have the sound upgrade vs the dummy setup. Basically it was cheaper in the long run to just put a dummy bass system than to try and change processes or wait for the chips needed.

Krista ,you will not be able to do anymore over landing in an electric bronco. You will be capped at 300 miles. Or can can be on the forefront of putting charging stations in the wilderness. Electric cars are a terrible idea
