Is there a rule of thumb for the width of the channel? How can I explain the differences to a customer? Thanks!

So I got my first skate profile done yesterday. I'd been skating on 12 year old skates with a 100/50 cut, always been a fast skater, play defense. I put the new skates/blades and tried them yesterday and literally felt like the back was sliding out under me. They recommended going a bit more shallow on the cut for the first try, but I had to change out and put on my old skates just to be able to move effectively at all. It felt like I had absolutely a smooth blade and just sliding. Any thoughts on if they may have just cut it wrong, or is this just first time issues lol

Your website says that a EP Grinding Wheel Fine 100 mm (SkatePal®) does about 1000 cycles and a typical sharpening of one skate is about 5 cycles, would that only be 200 skates or 100 pairs of skates, not the 750 pairs that Shayne mentions?

Thank you for the detailed explanation. I find that some outlets sell the box set, but very few sell the oil or spare hones separately. I just ordered the box, but I'm not sure what to do when the oil runs out. Also the oil saturated hone seemed interesting. I didn't quite get its purpose. All references to the stone hone said that it was to be used to remove burrs resulting from blade damage prior to sharpening, whereas oil is applied as the last step after sharpening. So where does the oil saturated stone hone fit in?

Hi Prosharp! i tried profiling Quad II on one of my own old blades, as it was the first time i tried profiling. After i was left with a sort of "dent" at the heel. Is it OK to blend the heel on my blades, as it feels really weird skating with that

When I try to calibrate my wheel, the wheel can be adjusted to move all the way over to the inside “close to me when using the machine” but when I adjust the wheel so it moves away from me i can only adjust it to center. I can go 3 clicks past center but it won’t move over any more than that, is that normal??? I feel like it should be able to move over alot more

So, basically, if it doesn't work as sold and intended, just eat that and ajust manually. Also, with time one would need more ajustment, because sledge would incline to the face side of machine, because rail mechanism can't hold the sledge. Definitely sounds like 10000€!

dont forget, that as stone shortents in diameter, the result radius would be narowwer than chosed, check out the results regularly to adjust to skate owner preferances

What could you suggest it feel like to go from quad 0 to quad 1? I really like quad 0 on my size 9 skates but looks like your recommendation is quad 1 for that size.

hello I just bought my son a new set of blades for his skates (size 3 bauer vapor) He is a 12 year old 85 pound centerman and covers lots of ice. I was told to get the Quad Zero ??? After reading and watching the videos, it looks like the quad zero is only meant for skates size 7-9 or larger??? will it still work on a size 3 skate? or should i return the blades and have them re-profiled. It looks like they should have did the quad XXS ? My son tried them yesterday and said he didn't notice anything different in his skating abilities. I appreciate your feedback.

Hey! I’ve been trying to buy one of these units for a year and a half and keep getting told I have to wait until November 22’ to buy. Now I’m being told there won’t be product until 2023? I’m running a mobile sharpening business and this doesn’t seem like a great option for me. (Located in Toronto Canada)

When moving the pivot point back 20mm the skate gets a forward lie, pitched forward. Standing still, you will have to raise your body upright not to "fall forward" making the COG of your body compensate for the pitch forward by standing more up-right. When skating it also mean that you will get easer access to the profiles at the front of the blade (lower radius) just by leaning a little bit forward and then making acceleration much easier. On the same way moving the pivot to the front the player will stand on his heels and he will naturally lean forward to compensate for the backward pitch. When skating it will be difficult accessing the front of the blade and much of the power will be put on the back and center of the blade making acceleration harder but making it easier to putting max power on the blade going at full speed. So why do you state that by moving the pivot backward you will lean forward when the body actually is raised upwards?

These profiles are awesome and they perform exactly as described. I find the new Ellipse to be incredible. For me much more agile than the Quad and I loved the Quade but the agility of the ellipse is real and its very balanced. Incredible how seamless the transitions are. Im skating a long long time. I'm an instructor here in new york so I have the experience to understand. When your radius is right your body mechanics are truly unlocked, head shoulders balance etc all one
