I've been studying this concept for a while - it seems to work well. I've seen some versions with a tender (or chip) basket to slide into the feed pipe.

Great stove design but I reserve the term BBQ for a unit where an actual flame kisses the food. A different taste than food prepared on flat iron griddle.

I love the fact that the hot exhaust is forced under that large hot plate before finding its way out. I'm going to try to weld something like that with my powerarc.
