Most salespeople think they're good at it because they've discovered lying. I don't think I've ever worked at a startup where the sales team wasn't just a bunch of liars.

I love the way Jed Bartlett never offers b.s. If he doesn't want to respond directly -- as with Bruno's, "I was sorry about Dolores Landingham," -- he responds with a more relevant question to change the conversation.

I love how his character misdirects people. When her hears about Joey Lucas, he asks if Joey is "the girl". He could have just been asking to see if there was a male Joey Lucas he was not aware of. However, his use of the term "girl" suggests she is not able to work at this level. When he confirms they are talking about the same pollster, he approves and says not only he had worked with her but said she was good. He might be brusque at times, but he respects talent.

You have to understand the " respect" Americans have for their President - whoever it may be. Thus after the negotiations, the " argi-bargi" is completed whatever the President decides, that's it.

@@michaelhayden725 that literally has nothing to do with anything in this scene. This was a scene designed to show just how much power Leo had, and just how willing the president was to let him use it. This was the president telling Bruno he could completely trust Leo, and that Leo already completely trusted Bruno.

Sadly, Kathryn Joosten passed away in 2012 at the age of 72. She worked up until her death despite an 11-year battle with lung cancer. She appeared in 87 episodes across all eight seasons of Desperate Housewives, the onscreen death of her character aired just twenty days before her own.
