I wish they hadn't cut the clip where they did. Bruno returns to Leo's office and Leo asks him 'How'd it go?' And Bruno replies 'Shut up' with a wry smile knowing he was played. Classic.

@@michaelhayden725 that literally has nothing to do with anything in this scene. I love how his character misdirects people. When her hears about Joey Lucas, he asks if Joey is "the girl". He could have just been asking to see if there was a male Joey Lucas he was not aware of. However, his use of the term "girl" suggests she is not able to work at this level. When he confirms they are talking about the same pollster, he approves and says not only he had worked with her but said she was good. He might be brusque at times, but he respects talent.

This show is so real life. There are Tobys, Joshes, Brunos, and Sams...and there is next level. See, everyone I mentioned is frighteningly intelligent. They were winning debate awards at 12. They can recite the constitution and the bible in one fell swoop. Put them in a room with anyone and they can negotiate anything. But Bartlet is another level, and that is why none of the aforementioned could do his job. Toby would be a more well read Trump, only worse. Both of them are unapologetic and stick to their guns, but you can get in on Trump if you kiss his ass. You can’t do that with Toby, and that is bad because he thinks his way is the only way, and negotiations would grind to a halt. Josh is crazy smart, but highly neurotic, and takes losses very personally. A Leo would have a harder time bringing him back to earth. Sam has it all, but he’s only confident in the moment. Loses confidence so easily when he makes mistakes. Bartlet is next level. He doesn’t overreact very often, he listens to every side, negotiates with a willingness to give his opponent what they want, while not being afraid to ask for more(Toby would be horrible at this, as he thinks he can shame Republicans to switch sides), and while he has a healthy ego, he knows everyone around him, and his opponents, have their strengths. This is where the next level comes into play. A Bruno is child’s play to Jed because Bruno lives off emotion and ego 100 percent of the time. And we sort of have that in the White House here in the real world, but it’s more like 95 percent of the time with Trump(Talk of marijuana legalization for medicinal purposes, and prison reform is proof of what can be done when Jeff Sessions is out of the picture). Trump is what happens if Toby and Josh had a one night stand, had a kid, and that kid slept in class for 16 years straight, but learned everything from the mob. Same ego, same neuroticism, same temper...they are just well read and well spoken.
