"The whole move goes into throwing your weight back." I had wondered about why I could easily get into a manual on the machine, but not in real life. Great insight. I'm inspired.

PLEASE use knee pads for this, even when you know how to do it very well. Around 22 years ago I was 13 and was riding bikes since I was 2 and bmx since I was 5, so I knew how to ride very well. I would do all kinds of tricks and this trick was easy for me. Then one day, like any other day, I did this same trick I always did. Then something happened, my front tire bumped on a small piece of metal that sent my tire up and to the side just enough for me to lose my balance and land directly on my right knee. I thought nothing of it, that was until I started sweating a lot! That sweat turned into blood and after lifting up my jeans I see a hole where my knee is and a kneecap with no skin over it. After many stiches and many in rehab for my joints and skin. My knee has never been the same and can not rest it anywhere for longer then 30 seconds without being in pain. I'm lucky though, I didn't dislocate or break anything but the skin. I stopped riding until I was 25 and now at 35 I'm just the same as I was 13, but I wear protection when doing anything but hops. That includes a helmet, I've hit my head 4 times too many and its killed a few brain cells. Don't be like me kids, even if you just wear a helmet and the cheap knee pads that go under pants. It will protect you from a lot of pain your whole life if something bad happens. Get a certified helmet at a store too, size isn't universal and having a bad fitting helmet is just as bad as not having one at all. Knee, and/or with shin pads can be bigger if you're young. If you've read all this and still won't do it then consider this. If you went out today and gave yourself a bad shinner and cut your leg up. How many days would you not ride for? Now imagine that if you split your knee open? It took me over 10 years and ruining my whole sport life as a teen. All because I thought I didn't need protection because I did things nobody else could. Be safe, look like an idiot and you can ride bikes and do any other active thing everyday of your life. Don't wear protection and that time WILL be reduced I guarantee it, just look at all the "greats" and see how long they have been out of action because of stupidity. Stay safe. Edit: after reading this I forgot to say, Have fun and make sure it stays fun. If not then change it up, I've been through mtb, road, bmx and jumpers. Keep having fun and doing it with a smile. If you get disappointed or angry at all if you can't do a trick then leave it for a couple days and stick with it. Not everyone can pick it up straight away, sure some of us are or have that one friend that can do anything they try 3 times, but that's rare and fearless. Don't compare yourself, never compare yourself, keep practicing and one day you will surprise yourself. For example I got into mtb 2 years ago and at first I was scared to go down a easy trail, now I go downhill, jump boulders and even rip it through sandy corners sliding. All on a hardtail too. Never compare, its all practice and dedication. I rode from 1 to 6 hours almost everyday for 2 years to get my bike skills under control and I'm still learning everyday. Just don't compare and if you do then only compare to yourself. As long as you're improving everyday then that's all that matters, it still doesn't matter, but if you want to improve then that's all that matters. Now go ride your bike and leave your phone at home

Fuck that. I’d rather just buy another tube. This looks like too much time and effort just for a bike. Not to mention I’d be spending more, just to do this little DIY, when I could just use the money to simply buy a new tube

Great video!! I've been working on the manual for a year now and can do a few meters but I'm deadly afraid of looping out so I always press the brake and come back down. I tried practicing looping out but fell on my butt and couldnt walk right for 3 days, so after that I stopped practicing looping out. I'm gonna use the manual machine to practice looping out but I'm still afraid.

great ! I want to go back to riding bike like useless trials for example and not boring ride forward :D, but tell me, what is your bike ? What wheel size ? 20" or 24" only "Inspired" is making frames like yours ? What to look for ?

Great video, and I mostly agree, but one important thing missed: Hopping on your feet is easy when stood with a slight bend to the legs. Hopping on your feet when squatted down low is very hard on your muscles. ...it would destroy your leg muscles. Add a bike into the mix and it becomes even tougher physically.

I'm a former trials rider and physics enthusiast, who's getting back into riding after a 15 year break. Loving how much you've thought about the physics - you're definitely the best on youtube at describing techniques for manuals, bunnyhops, and other things.

Grest tuto but just a question? In order to pull up the wheel decently do I need to push the pedals forward also, right? Or pushing the pedals forward is just to loop out ? Thx

02:25 is super important - the move is not initiated by going fully into a manual! Also, how do you set up your bikes size/cockpit wise? The turqouis one long to have a loong angled stem 😊 Cheers 👍
