More Information for those wondering about the Community First Village: mlf.org/community-first/ There's a lot of information, ways to contribute, testimonials, etc. that is not mentioned in the video. I didn't feel too comfortable about filming others at the time as it felt like making a content out of their past possible scars, but everyone seemed happy and very welcoming! Do note, the village is about 10 miles from the train station, so plan ahead if traveling by a train!

How did you decide who would get the upper berth?
@SoloTravelSolTube

Via Rail assigns your berth upon purchase of the ticket. I heard you may be able to switch to lower or upper for free by calling them but haven't actually tried (there's a fee to change online)

In the end of the video i believe the effect is the 22° halo and is not correlated to the eclipse, but it's a cool weather phenomenon, It's not really rare but i saw it ones or twice so good shot!

I took a few pictures and videos of the eclipse that came out exactly the same. I had the same problem when trying to zoom in or focus. There's a focal point range to have the camera about an inch away from the glasses in order to get a clear image. Trying that in a moving plane, was the other deal breaker, in trying to obtain a good picture. The difference in eclipse glasses can also give a grainy or clear picture as well.

This was such a lovely video and I enjoyed your story telling along the way . Made it really interesting 😊. I am an Aussie , but planning to do this trip next year . My parents were penpals ( my dad lived in Australia and my mum was living in Canada. My dad proposed to her over the phone in 1966, then saved up for 12 months and took a ship from Sydney to Vancouver. My mum met him there and they took this train in April 1967 from Vancouver to Toronto and they married in Toronto in June 1967. It’s always been a dream of mine to take the train journey myself . Watching your video brought a tear my eye ❤

Yeah, I'd rather stay on ground to view the eclipse--you really get to feel, see, and hear the change based on temperature, light, and confused animals that you would initially hear on sundown/sunset. I think there'll be another in 2026, maybe you can catch that one! :)

What did you guys think? I think the key here was expectations. Initially I had no expectation as flights get delayed and cancelled even for the slightest reason. Once we were taking off at around somewhat accurate time (2:59PM schedule departure, 3:12PM take off), my hopes were high. But then, 🥲 Perhaps maybe just 5 minutes early out of the taxiway could have made a huuuuge difference. I was so looking forward to sky turning dark above the clouds, but there was no such moment (hence doesn't appear in the video) Do note, this was NOT the 'special flight' designated for eclipse watching, but rather One of four 'prime opportunity' flights advertised by Delta. For those planning in the future, I would NOT recommend flights like this where you simply "intersect across +" the path. Perhaps one where you chase or fly along the path may provide a different view? Thanks for watching and reading!

Hope you enjoyed this amazing winter train experience! Additional information FYI: Numbers of seats in the dome car reserved for Prestige class passengers vary throughout the day & days. I think however, the very first row seats were always reserved. During the Peak season (generally May-October), sleeper class passengers can only access the park car during specific times, so check ahead! There are a few more outlets spread out throughout the train besides the park car, which can get a bit competitive! Eastbound trains (Vancouver -> Toronto) were always cheaper than Westbound trains (Toronto -> Vancouver) when I was planning, but I don't know if this is always the case throughout the year. I came across this great opportunity while editing Around America videos and I thought I'll upload this first while things are still fresh in my mind! Now I'll get back to Around America videos (and my Korean channel too for those watching both😁) Let me know if you have any questions 😁😁
