Thanks so much for doing these Dino. You’re helping the next generation immensely! I just changed the starter using your video, and am watching this series to hopefully finally get insight into how vehicle electrical systems work. You are a great presenter and I really appreciate your work! Thank you!!

I did away with those 5 large JIS screws (side panels, headlight fairing) and replaced them with stainless steel allen button head screws from the hardware store. No more JIS screw driver. I'll send them back to Japan.

Be careful if you're driving on HWY 129 at night. I came within a whisker of hitting a moose at 60 mph right in the middle of the highway just after dark. I was driving a Honda.....but even that wouldn't have saved me. How much less if you're on a bike.

I always wonder why people use an air hose to try and clean out the tank, which just blows the dirt around instead of using a shop vacuum and get it out clean.

Hi Dino, have just purchased a DR 650 and watch most of your videos. They are extremely helpful and your delivery is great. You must be a teacher? If not you should be. Have a query I’m hoping you can help with. With the bike on a stand and the bike in neutral, if I turn the back wheel in a forward direction there’s a knocking noise from the counter shaft/ front sprocket no knocking if I turn the wheel backward or if I put it in gear pull the clutch in and turn the wheel. Any ideas? Thanks in advance and thanks for the great videos. Harry

Thank you for the comment. I think it would be easier to make a video specifically on the NSU itself. That would have to be an "off season" video for me. Thank you for the question, I will see what I can do. Dino

I've returned three jackets to them in past two weeks for all sorts of different manufacturing issues. Reinforcement around the zippers are nearly non-exist on the interior, found just a lot of misfires from their sewing machines and all have the armor padding was total garbage. Hell one of the pads I pulled out was starting to decay. Top it all off their sizing chart is way off so the first jacket I got was too big and also had a bunch of stitchings that was coming undone. I've wasted enough time with HWK so I'm spending the extra money and getting some better gear.
@DinosTinkerShed
@DinosTinkerShed 4 күн бұрын
Thank you for the feedback. It is disappointing that you have not had the same experience as I have with my jacket which over all is still good for the price. I will need a new coat soon and may buy another HWK to see if they have dropped there quality in the three years since I bought the jacket I have now. Thank you so much for the feedback Dino

hi again Dino, yet another video full of great information and good sense. Thank you for this 🙏 Was able to make a ton of mods with only a handful of tools you recommended, ranging from bar risers, footpeg lowering, bark busters, adjustable clutch & brake levers, mirrors, led headbulb, some crash bars, axle sliders, pro cycle seat and cover, etc. Next up carbie jet kit and tuning after the break in, and I've enjoyed your videos on those as well ❤ Quick question though, what sort of "toolbox" did you replace the standard black plastic one with? I'm asking because yours seems more spacious, and I'm interested because it would have enough space for my ratchet and a more robust selection of tools than what the standard tube fits. Either way, your videos are great and love the production value as well 🙌

I bought the Parabellum and the wind "turbulence" is awful. I drilled 2 holes in windshield to not make it so upright. That helped quite a bit. As other comments stated, the Parabellum gave me a headache as my head vibrated in the turbulence. FYI, I'm 6 feet tall. The little stock windscreen deflected all the bugs right to my throat area. That's why I need a different wind shield. Looking at the Madstad. It's adjustable, but also pricey.

Great video, Just a comment My 2001 Suzuki SV650S that I have owned for 23 years had a RR problem. I was cheap and bought a $23 aftermarket one. The aftermarket one gave me problems not because the diodes in it were bad, but because the spade connectors in it were thin and flimsy and didn’t make could connection with the stator wire side. In the last few years, most of the electrical problems I had on my very reliable Japanese bikes were from bad connection and not a bad component. I think this is very important to iterate.

I never do a complete wash of my DR650, I just knock the crusty dirt off as needed. That I hardly ever get it muddy may say something about my riding style. If I get caught in the rain on the way home I will fog the whole bike with WD40. It just takes a couple minutes before the next ride to wipe excess WD40 away(the rest burns off). Of course the brakes get the Brake Cleaner treatment. Coming up on 20years DR650 ownership. What rust? I don't see any rust. The square air box nuts eventually became an issue. I deleted them. Drilled holes in the appropriate locations and now use zip ties to secure the lid. I know that's not for everyone.

Got another tip for you Dino. Change the side panel and seat screws to thumb screws for tool-less and quick removal. I used low strength Loc-tite to keep them secure while still being able to loosen them by hand. Had to remove some material off of the seat thumb screw but the tight fit also helps keep them secure.
