You should only harvest up to one third of the rhubarb at a time, to ensure there is enough leaf remaining for it to recover

Golly this is a hard one! I like both, but maybe the lighter background one? I also thought you were going to put a touch of red into it? Is that still on the cards?

Wow Congratulations. a boat! I can see Phillip will no longer be in the chateau... he's going to be sailing whenever he can. Where are you going to dock your boat?

Anna, you need a greenhouse and plant your own seeds. So much cheaper! But good job!

Your unknown plant (11.03) might be Gaura (Oenothera lindheimeri): it's popular in France!

Christmas tree shopping I thought is a family event. Weird you excluded Philip. Your tree turned out geoirgeous. Guess I'm just old fashion regarding picking out trees.

always remove the flowers from a rhubarb as it will otherwise result in a poorer harvest

I think at least one darker, Richer WARMER colour would be great. Does the husband get any say in the decorating choices? A lot of these rooms look quite stark and cold - they need rugs, paintings on the walls, pretty decor pieces, some humour, personality & imagination. The nuts and bolts of the restoration are well done, but it kind of feels like a very by the book, safe style. I guess it's hard to do too much in so many and such huge spaces on a budget - maybe that stuff will come as they earn more from hosting guests. I can't imagine an 18th century hunting lodge would look so austeer & minimalist. The breakfast room: white floor, white half walls, white tablecloths. The blue room looks like a blue version of magnolia and has a positively icy vibe. Maybe it's nice in summer. I have to give it to them for restoring and preserving a beautiful old building so well, and allowing others to enjoy it via these videos and as guests. Not many people could pull that off.

Gaura are amazing plants, ours have seeded all around our courtyard so lots more free plants. They flower all summer almost into winter down here in the SW and are great in full sun.

I LOVE the look. I hate it when people renovate an old property and forget the design ethics of the house’s era! Well done!

Rhubarb hints: Don't let it flower, it becomes tough. Leaves are poisen, discard. Pick when smaller shoots, more tender. Pull gently, don't cut. To freeze, chop in small pieces, do not wash, put in zip lock bag. Lasts up to 6 months. You do not need to let unthaw to make a rhubarb crunch. Jelly made with rhubarb, strawberry Jello mix, and sugar. Rhubarb pie Rhubarb custard Rhubarb muffins Rhubarb bread Rhubarb juice/punch

Rhubarb freezes extremely well! Freeze in quantity of number of cups and dice/slice called for in the recipe. No other prep required. Just slice and freeze. I have wonderful rhubarb recipes that I will happily share.

What would be wonderful is to have a walled Garden especially as you live in a château. This would keep away the wild boar. I live in France and created my own walled garden with a arched door, that looks like a Secret Garden works brilliantly for a sun trap for the vegetables and keeping wildlife out. It was made out of charantaise stone.

You can freeze the rhubarb, raw, blanched, or fully cooked. Save it for later, especially to go with strawberries, and make strawberry rhubarb pie.

The light one! The dark one makes the room too busy for the eyes, and even though there are big windows, the room in quite small, and with the already painted doors and furniture in aquamarine, it could all feel too crowded with the darker wallpaper...

While the darker one appeals more to me, the lighter one works better in the room. Think of it once the room is finished and decorated, the darker design will sort of blend with the panels. Too similar... Pretty gorgeous though!

I hope you will replant the rhubarb root - they live for years - just need a lot of feeding (horse poo etc) mulch and harvest stems when needing a dessert or stewed for breakfast on your porridge - yum! Love the latest renovations!
