Do you have any % egg loss to the ramshorn eating eggs. Newly hatched fry? Or do they just eat non fertilized eggs and leftover food? Also about how long exactly should I wait for my cpd fry to become free swimming after hatching at 70 degrees

Only thing I would recommend would be to let that bucket cycle for a week. With so many new organisms added plenty will die which will throw off the ammonia cycle.

I’ve bought the same hatchery & fluval to copy this great setup, the only thing I’m missing is the length of pipe going from the hatchery & fluval hang on box. My question is do you know what thickness the tubing needs to be that connects the two box’s please?

had the same idea , just wasn't sure if that kind of plastic wouldn't end up giving off stuff into the water over time. guess letting it rest in water for a week will take care of the worst of it, and the rest will be handled with water changes. putting the mesh inside seems like a better choice in my case. I got feisty little panda catfish scattering all the moss around.Also , can't use glue. Got no wife to steal candles from!

Thanks a lot for the tutorial! However, I had the issue that the eggs would just get stuck on the funnel part and never roll down. Even with maximum air flow.
@sydneysangels
@sydneysangels 10 күн бұрын
Thanks! Yeah, I've struggled with that issue too. I'm not sure what the fix is for that. I've noticed I still get eggs even when some of them are getting stuck, are any of yours getting through?

If anyone is trying to safe a little money, I used a regular funnel with mesh as a substitute for the aqua nursery. Then just adapted an airline into the tubing connecting the breeder box. About 25% the cost of the nursery

I’ve been thinking about doing something like this looks really great. I have a question though what happens when we get a lot of rain will the overflow cause the fish to fall out of the container ?

Great video. Im looking for a small fish to breed in with my Hillstream Loaches. Do you think they would be ok together? My other thought was ricefish but it's my first time breeding egg scatterers so these might be nice and easy?

How long can they remain outside; can the weather get too hot or too cold for the guppies; how do you regulate the temperature? Thanks for the video.
@sydneysangels
@sydneysangels 14 күн бұрын
They can tolerate quite a large range of temperatures, from mid to low 60's to upper 80's so that just depends on your area! I have my pond in a pretty shady area so it doesn't overheat. When the weather gets too cold, I'll actually drain the pond and bring the fish inside
@sydneysangels
@sydneysangels 14 күн бұрын
Also I don't do anything to regulate the temperature, I just let mother nature do it's thing!

Would this kind of egg trap work for something like habrosus Cories? How about pseudomugil? Or are their eggs just too sticky do you think?
@sydneysangels
@sydneysangels 14 күн бұрын
I'm worried that the cory eggs are just too sticky, but that doesn't mean it's impossible. The pseudomugil eggs might work, assuming they are small enough to make it through the mesh!

I have one question about the mesh. What are the measurements of the holes? As ive seen we have different measurements in the 7 mesh in the uk. I've always been put off with breeding egg skatterers but this seems so simple and easy. I will definitely give it a go.
