I believe we used these for darkroom lighting since it was spectral pure in a particular band would not react with black and white paper processing. The lamps were hung from the ceiling and aimed up at the ceiling for a dispersed light. The energy ratings are false. When one considers the power factor being low the lamp will actually be using the same energy as a standard light bulb. Power factoring cannot be measured with standard analog mechanical kilowatt meters. If one had the new digital meters, they can detect the power factor and correct power usage of led lamps. Now in the states power companies must inform customers of power factor correction for billing purposes. Failing to do so would be a violation of their declaration made with the public utilities agency of the states they operate in. If you have a digital meter take the time to check their terms of service registered on your states website, then call your supplier and ask them if they are doing power factor correction billing with your service.

How feasible is it to just sticka lense in front of it and achieve zero divergence? Like obviously not since the manufacturers likely wouldve dont that already especially on the expensive laser, but why not?
@U.S.A.2 күн бұрын
Currently a 2W UV-C Led costs around $25-$30, if there would be a working disinfecting lamp made from Leds, that would be very expensive.
@U.S.A.2 күн бұрын
1:03 There is another cheap and reusable method for detecting UV-C, in Hungary all banknotes look different under UV-C and UV-A light, so you just put the bill under UV and you can figure out which type of UV is it. The smallest nomination is the 500 forint bill which is equal to $1.40.

Hello Brian: There’s a new season of Skinwalker Ranch. They have a multiple laser light test & a green laser that has a gap and the experimenters are looking for an explanation. Can you check what they are doing & maybe come up with an explanation? Season 5 of The Secret of Skinwalker Ranch. I’m just a curious viewer. Earlier seasons did have a splitting and bending laser, but that can be explained. The gap is a puzzle-but the infrared transmittal seems promising. Thank you!

In Saskatchewan SaskPower used high pressure sodium either 100w 150w 250w or 400w bulbs. Also in sentinel style light fixtures they used mercury vapor. We now use LEDs with a warm white light.

the increased activity in the op globe after you touched it is due to the small amount of static electricity that was built up in your body got transferred to the glass, making it more sensitive.

We have one Philips 4W 840lm lamp for our porch light. Since it is on for many hours two nights a week to allow safe access for our milkman I figured it would be worth the expense to purchase. I paid £12 for it two years ago but don't know what they charge now.

There is something charming about a street still lit with older sodium lighting, our road has historic street lamps so hopefully they will never modify them to the clinical LED fittings used on main routes. They have a high failure rate compared to the older lamps. Living in austerity Britain, the streetlights on side streets go off at midnight because of cost, we are used to it now after 15 years of cost cutting, but the old orange glow of sodium meant safety, and not twisting an ankle on broken pavements

There's a solution for using LED and preserving the old yellow color: Using 3000k LEDs. In a village of Spain called Pozo Alcón the council has been doing that. I visited that village a year ago and believe me, at night you won't see no difference from the old lights and these ones until you get close to them and see the LED matrix. In fact, not only they consume less energy, but also they seem to emmit less light to the atmostphere thanks to their moders desing.

I remember when I was a kid I had this metal rod used for cleaning the insides of my trumpet. I'm not sure what metal it was. It looked like stainless steel. When you touched it to the globe you could pull the electricity about half a centimeter away from the outside of the glass. Kids do stupid things and I was one of them. I'm just stupid in different ways now 🤣

I wonder if using glass (bulb itself or the housing) that’s violate/purple in color will it cancel the yellow orange color light and make it more usable…. Purple cancels yellow turning it white like purple shampoo does for blondes that want togo platinum

Those sodium-vapor-lamps had only advantage that made them trump absolutely everything else: _Their light penetrated fog_ like nothing else! When you had those above your head (or, rather, your car), it did not matter how foggy it was, you could always see everything. And this is why I miss them.

Newbie here: if I make a red and a green laser line overlapping on a surface, then I will see a yellow color? I have a cnc-machine and I would have a laser line projected on the table to have a precise position reference to align stock materials on it. The line widht of commercial red/green laser is still to big, even after focusing them on the surface. I was thinking to combine red and a green lines to get a thinner yellow line in the middle by making them slightly overlapping... will this idea works? (Obviously I would check the alignment while wearing some magnifying lens.)

I'd like an OPSL, but I also have a large collection of DPSS and direct diode lasers, plus a HeNe. Not sure I'd want to advertise them in a public video, but I think I have a fair enough excuse, as I used to do product development work using lasers for various purposes. I'm also an amateur holographer, but only two of my lasers are capable of making decent holograms.

This is a tiny amount, look at the scale and output relative to the visible light. This is similar to the blue light scare. Reality check: how much yellow plastics do you have in the bathroom compared to a living room where sunlight goes through 2-3 panes of glass. The big bulbs are to cover a large work area or a yard where the energy is spread out, while a 20W is a dim desk lamp much closer.

You may notice that LED streetlights are often lower lumens than the SOX or SON fixtures they replaced. This is because the improved CRI means fewer lumens are needed for humans to see properly at night in most situations.

Didn't faraday already did this some 100 years ago and had no luck with it. It seems due to no presence of electric charge and only photons it is impossible to create amy kind of disturbance in light wave. Only strong gravity of stars can bend the light.
