Awesome video. Love the long-winded explanations btw. Very informative. Think I’m going to pick one of these up:)

Nice well rounded day, 3 species and a couple eaters. I would have taken those Crappie too, I tried them with some Catch & Cook original for the first time this year and it was delicious.

still enjoying the boat? Wishing you went with something else?? I'm looking to get me a tiller in the 18ft range. I have a 16 SC Legend but the console and seats take up a ton of floor space. cheers Mike!!
@ReelLifeWithMike4 күн бұрын
@@AdamCraigOutdoors so far I still really like it. I mean bigger would always be better but for what I do it’s perfect. We can still fit in little streams ect yet hit the big waters. Also doesent cost an arm and a leg for fuel

Do you ever use Goldeye for bait? I find shrimp gets too many small cats and drum.

Not usually as I don’t usually keep fish but have thought of it for sure.
@kevinbikemad4 күн бұрын
@@ReelLifeWithMike It stays on the hook much better than shrimp as well. For me, it is easily the most consistent bait for getting large cats.

Been using a Kast King Rover R60 with an Ugly Stick Catfish Special 2piece MH 9ft for a couple of seasons now and I can't find a better setup. That Ugly Stick loads up so well for Channel Cats, my $600 Musky setup can't compare to it. You don't realize how much of a difference a flexible rod makes with Channels Cats until you try one. If a $75 rod (use whatever reel you want) is in your budget I would highly recommend heading down over to LOTW Outfitters or Cabela's and picking one up.

Sounds like you need some better hooks. I lost a few there this year on 30 pound mono above the swivel. The ends were shredded, I think from dragging on zebra mussels down there. I now use 50 pound mono for my leader and for a couple of feet above the swivel and weight That seems to be able to stand the mussels better
@ReelLifeWithMike9 күн бұрын
@@paulchapman8759 yeah it’s strange. Have never had issues like we had that day and used them for the catfish derby’s last year. I think with that 3-4mph current may have added just a bit more pressure on the line for sure.
