Oh man, I want to work in the trades too, but doing it in the heat must be draining. I'm sure the basement will look a lot better with a new coat. Is that brick? If so, I hope that no moisture has gotten under the current coat of paint. Thanks for the video!
@TheCreativeMindКүн бұрын
You learn a lot working in the trades and it's good money. Prepare yourself for the elements and it will be a lot easier to work in plus I'm older which makes it a little more difficult to work in extreme conditions. The basement is all brick and I hope this water blocking paint works. It'll look good when it's done

What a great running session Ed! I really enjoyed it, not sure how I missed it. By the way, I’ve always want your Amtrak set since I was 7 years old. Well I just hit the jackpot and I found a set. How many motors are in your locomotive Ed? 👍💯

Thanks Frank. We're getting a break from the heat now so its more bearable to work. I can't wait to get this basement done, one heck of a project.

Excellent channel update ❤ Work & heat sure takes the wind out of my sails too. If nothing is binding up on that T1 - the next step for me might be trying a used armature. Good luck on your repairs.

Excellant, and getting those roofs off is a real bugger. I think that one time I had to "push" something UP through the bottom(small area next to the white bulb holder on the bottom.) Here caution is still the word, go slow. I have a Milwaukee Road and Southern Set that I had to do this for.

So, I am trying to determine if it is my chuck or something else that is broken. I can close the chuck onto a drill bit, but once the bit hits any resistance, the drill stops turning. I pull back and it will spin at full speed. Is this a chuck or broken motor?
@TheCreativeMind25 күн бұрын
How old is the drill and battery? Batteries typically go bad in 3 to 5 years depending on the abuse. Keeping a battery on the charger 24/7 can shorten its lifespan. Yes, the chargers stop charging but there might be a trickle charger that keeps going depending on who makes your drill. What voltage is your drill? I worked for Home Depot for 5 years in hardware and people will always go for the cheapest cordless drill to tackle projects meant for an 18 volt drill. Small motors can burn up. Though you pull away from your work surface, the drill spins fast but no muscle because the windings are burned up. Finally, this has happened, the transmission is bad. The motor spins fast but the chuck and bit are slow or stopped when you work. People have switched gears while the drill was in operation. This can strip the gears in the housing causing poor performance.

@@TheCreativeMind 18v drill. Batteries are good. 3 years old. Seems like a broken gear/transmission the way it stops with a clink.

Are those locos DC or DCC? If DC, how are you moving the F3 consist and not the steamer when you get the diesels on the same line the steamer is on? Is the switch controlling the electrical current flow?
@TheCreativeMindАй бұрын
These locomotives are from 1992 with one "A" unit being conventional powered AC Pullmor motors while the rest are non powered. I left the steamer in the neutral position and was just lazy not to take it off the tracks.
