Are 150mm (6") cabinets not common in the U.S.? They are pretty standard here in the U.K. but then I guess we have to make more efficient use of our smaller kitchens anyway. *8')

I was totally thinking the whole time that the stool was to be mounted to the pull out. Still an excellent job but I was like "how tf is he gonna do this!?" ready for the mind to be blown moment lol. You're awesome and I'm sure there's knowledge in here I'll apply to my own prOjects. (I like saying PRO-jects now like Colin Knecht) Fancy!

There's a gap between the white oak trim and the doors in the rest of the build, surprised you didn't replicate that with that drawer.

That outro! 🤣 Great use of such a narrow space. My first thought was cookie sheets, but the step ladder is a great idea. Now, I'm thinking if I could fit a stepstool cabinet into my kitchen somewhere... and should I replace my old reliable stepstool with that sexy date night one? lol

Why? I think one reason people don't design their kitchens this way, is because so few of us have our own kitchen to design, not to mention the cost of doing so. Cool content, but an approach that's pretty out of touch!

Kitchen carcasses has been made like this (or very similar ) for decades. The major difference is that we use adjustable legs to make levelling across a long area easier. Your cabinets are made from plywood and you use veneers and wood trim very well, whereas we mostly use laminated mfc. Our system is easier but yours is a better finish.

Im a Dutch kitchen desinger and I'm watching your work with so much mixed emotions. The woodwork is incredible. The louvers are beautiful and you're using the proper rails and hinges (european ;-) ) But than, I saw you working with these toe-kicks, cut out a corner in the side panel, putting the back of the cupboard all the way against the wall without leaving any space behind it, having the handles on doors on a different direction than in the drawers, using panels of so many different sizes on a kitchen which is barely 2,5 meters long.. Devil is in the details but I really think you can make your kitchens that much greater if you just had some little tips on things which are quite common here. Once again, your work is amazing. Technically there isnt much out there which matches the quality and detail I see. There are some tips however which makes you life a hole lot easier when installing the kitchen

Out of curiosity, why make the trashcan portion a drawer they hang from vs a drawer with slides at the bottom that the trashcans sit inside of?

Where I'm from, a simple IKEA "method" kitchen is cheaper with all the hardware, knobs, hinges etc included, then buying the sole sheets of plywood needed to do my own. Not even talking about the additional hardware needed. Why do I know that? I tried...

it would make a great sheet pan drawer. We are currently putting ours in the gap between out stove and cabinet but that means their actually on the floor. It sucks having to wash them before we can use them only to wash them again when we're done with them.

if you plan to visit open seas I suggest building the hull as a V shape cross section front to rear - what one calls a 'V-huil' and a pointy design up front. that way the boat would split the waves & go through gracefully rather than riding the wave and then catch air only smash again on the water surface, which is scary, uncomfortable for the occupants and trying for the boat structure. Here in the mediterranean all boat are built that way since especially here in Malta the seas can get quite rough anything not built in Malta or at least Sicily or North Africa will be crap in the open sea and will be at the mercy of the waves and current - don't ask me how I know. What you are building with a flat bottom is a lake or river boat at the very best!

Afterthought question In order to maximize this space. Why a full base carcass for this. Why not just a door panel Why not just a finish end panel to the dishwasher side Why not frp or tile the gyp bd for clean ability. Should give you nearly 1” more space within.

nice use of space. the only thing i would add is that a 1/8 saw kerf between the door panel and the drawer panel rather than glue one directly to the other. that way the gaps and spaces remain consistent through out the cabinets
