How much in maintenance does the evo cost a year on average do you reckon? Not including petrol. I’m looking at buying an 8, but my wife reckons it will be too much to maintain and I need figures to prove her wrong 😂 I live near Norris Designs. If you’ve ever used them, what are their prices like for servicing? Thanks 👍🏼👌🏼
@ThatEvoVII
@ThatEvoVII 3 күн бұрын
Depends on how many miles you end up doing, servicing is supposed to be every 4k to 4.5k miles. I do 2k to 3k most years but still service it every year, if it’s just plugs, filters and oils it’s around £300 to £350.. I’ve never used Norris as I live near APT in Norwich so I always go there. You can definitely daily one, but realistically you’ll get 15 to 20 mpg around town and around 25 on a run (One running stock power maybe more fuel efficient, but you don’t buy an Evo for fuel economy 😉).. Hope this helps 👊😎
@General_Miller3
@General_Miller3 2 күн бұрын
@@ThatEvoVII yeah that’s good info thanks. 90% of my miles are motorway and it’s only 40 miles per trip. I’m averaging 5-6k a year because I don’t need to drive every day. I’m also aiming to keep my banger as it’s super cheap to run although the most boring car I’ve ever drove… 1.4 diesel, 62 plate Peugeot 208 😂 I plan on keeping the evo stock (as much as possible) so not looking for a huge power build when I do buy. Thanks again 👍🏼
@ThatEvoVII
@ThatEvoVII 2 күн бұрын
@@General_Miller3 no problem at all 👊😎 .. definitely keep hold of the daily, because even though you could daily an Evo personally I never would, I think it’d take the sense of occasion away if you used it everyday. When I get mine back out after winter it’s like getting into a new car! Good luck finding a good one, look out for rot underneath (especially rear chassis rails), fuel tank/filler neck and around the inner wings and bulkhead, insist on it not being warmed up before you view it so you can see if it smokes excessively on start up.. any other issues you should be able to see whilst viewing. Btw if you do get one good luck keeping it stock, it’s just one of those cars you can’t help modifying, plus they love a bit of extra power! 🙌😎

Hi bud and thanks I try to keep on top of it.. If you buy a new car in the UK, it doesn’t need the yearly inspection until it’s 3 years old. Then it’s every year, you can store a vehicle without getting it tested, but once you want to use it again it needs to be inspected.

I just stumbled upon your channel and video, and I do not know the full build nor who tuned your car, but there is absolutely no legitimate reason those AFRs should be hovering around 13.5 during light cruising unless you're having cooling issues or want pops and bangs. I doubt it's a stock mitsu map which always tend to be big rich anywhere above 2000 RPM. Did you have it tuned for WOT runs on a dyno only, or did you request road tuning as well? Your car, as well as mileage and torque will benefit if you lean out the AFR during most of the conditions you drove in this video. Sick EVO though!

What do you think of the clutch as well ?
@ThatEvoVII
@ThatEvoVII 16 күн бұрын
@@5372john Hi there, I was told by some people the turbo is only good for about 470, but I guess it all depends on the supporting mods and who’s tuning it. So for it to make almost 485 is fantastic in my opinion, there’s virtually zero lag and it sounds amazing.. even the exhaust note has changed, the power it’s at right now is perfect for me, plus I have the option to turn it down if I want to. As for the clutch initially it only felt a bit heavier which I was ok with, but after a couple of days of driving I’ve come to realise you need to rev it a bit more to get away from junctions if you’re on a hill (I’ve stalled it a couple of times 🤦‍♂️), it’s definitely more aggressive in that respect compared to my old RTS organic clutch which was very light to use.. But I’ll get used to it 😎👍

@ThatEvoVII
@ThatEvoVII 17 күн бұрын
Yeah, I noticed the sound was different out of the exhaust when they drove it off of the dyno. The BOV though is totally unrecognisable to how it did sound.. The engine is fully forged so it could handle 600+, but to be honest I don’t think it needs anymore, plus I don’t want to end up chasing the weak points due to reliability issues. I think middle power at 445 is great for twisty B roads though, and full boost for straight line speed.
