Hi, To my experience and understanding, you don't have to remove the top ring, it's only to reinforce the diaphragm from sliding off from above, you can rotate the ring easily, and it's not holding on to rubber. Only the bottom plastic ring is holding tight to the diaphragm. Instead of sliding the diaphragm from the top, you can slide it gently from the bottom holding slide upside down and bring it to its original top position. One thing I am confused about is the bottom plastic ring. I think it has an important role since it works as a spacer for inner side of the slide seat probably to stop gas leakage coming in contact with a diaphragm. What do you guys think?

My airbox covers the governor so every engine is slightly different. Mine is for a power washer. Also my governor is not bent the way this one is. This is the one chapter that was not very useful to me, luckily I kept the carb and related part assembled when I took them off

He skipped assembling the flywheel. What else was skipped over? The rest of the valve assembly? Rocker arms and timing wheel?
@user-ee8oy8sw3u

Hi. Great video series. When assembling the case, I found that installing the cam pulley, pulley shaft, and o ring, at this point is helpful. While the cases are split, the triangular timing mark on the crankshaft can be seen as well as the vertical alignment mark cast into the exterior of the cylinder casting, the crankshaft key way, and the alignment marks on the cam pulley itself. So, it's really easy to set the static timing at this point and has the added benefit of holding the timing belt in place during the rest of the assembly process. Thanks again for these helpful videos.

Those zip ties dont last very long so dont use them . . . I give them about 4 years and they start breaking though you might get lucky and some will last 6-8 years but on a FUEL line I would not use them unless you carry extras in the tool pouch of a motorcycle. Lawnmower not so critical.

If it's an older engine do NOT take the muffler off unless you absolutely have too because the bolts break off and then you spend a bunch of time drilling extracting and tapping the threads.

Finally, a video were equipment was cleaned before it was worked on. No sand or debris getting on threaded parts. Also, not working on a grass lawn where every snap ring, small part is lost forever. No background noise, like people talking, kids crying or a leaf blower at full throttle 10 feet away.

Should have showed the restricted diaphram action when pushing slide in and observing the slow extention back ro rest position this checkes the seal installation integrity. If it returns back to rest rapidly, theres an issue in sealing or positioning cover, and diaphram relationship. Otherwise excellent video and thanks.

I just replaced a crank and connecting rod. After just 10 minutes of running, my oil is full of fine particles. 😭

So if the governor is at the right of the engine you turn the governor arm and little spindle clockwise/to the right/ away from the engine. And if the governor is to the left, you turn arm and spindle ... which way?

The answer to this question is totally unclear, not just on this video, but many. You can tell about the uncertainty given all the extraneous crap in this video.

Why didn't Honda have the great idea of using studs and nuts for securing the carburettor instead of bolts!!?
@killer2600

Because you can’t get the carb linkage off without manipulating the carb orientation which you can’t do if it’s held in position with studs. There are other engines that have the studs but you can’t get the carb off without taking out the studs as well as the retaining nuts. Also on the GC/GCV, if you remove the entire assembly from the engine, it’s easier to assemble the gaskets and pieces and reinstall it on the engine as a combined unit. You can also use assembly studs. Honda sells some as a special tool or you can make you own from some long bolts (with the head cut off) or all-thread - M6-1.0 is the thread if memory serves.
