I had a nerve block for 5 days and couldn’t put weight on my leg until it wore off. I couldn’t bend my knee for a week. And when my PT bent it back, I nearly passed out. I don’t know how this guy is doing it. I couldn’t stand on my leg without a walker for a week 11:49

Great addition to an already beautiful location. I bet the grandchildren are going to love it. I had the grandsons at our pond last evening. They kept me busy baiting hooks and taking bluegill and perch off the line. Then we built a campfire and sat around it till about 10:30 when we turned in for the night at what we call "Camp Bigfoot". Nothing but a storage shed but it has magical powers with them. Making memories is what it's all about at this stage of life. Good job.

Hi Jerry, I just wear the N95 mask if it gets too dusty. For cleaning off the mill I use a cordless leaf blower, with the extension you're not in the cloud of dust when blowing the saw dust off everything and no worries about the hose getting hung up on anything.
@BigelowWoodcraft
@BigelowWoodcraft Күн бұрын
I did get some soft masks. I use both the leaf blower and compressed air. The leaf blower doesn't quite do as well I find. But I do use that often.

Wow, you turned out better that I did. My doctor said 4 years ago, I needed both knees replaced but the VA said I was to young at the age of 50 to have it done and we needed to wait. Now both my knees are shoot. I just had my left done in March and my right will be done in July. I have had some problems and am still having some problems with my left knee. The doctor said is was completely bone on bone and had a lot of spurs he had to clean up. I hd been in a lot of pain for the last 2 years and still have some but nothing like it was. All in all, glad as hell I had it done. They say it will get better over the next year with what I had to go thru. Glad to see you are recovering good.

Ingenious brother-just bought a log truck load of lodgepole tamarack and red fir for $2500-logs are 35' long- 13 to 14 cords split and stacked and was wondering how in the heck am i going to do this easily as possible-i found new gravity 10' convayers for about $300 a piece with metal stands-but the roller spacing is 12"-thoughts?-thinking of setting the stands up on quickcrete sonotube footings-and then converting harbor freight pick-up cranes to electric winches to lift the logs onto the rollers-had that idea in my head-came in and utubed that idea and found you-glad your video popped up-if i didn't have wood to burn in the winter the wife would drop me off at the mission-appreciate this video.

Hey Jerry. Have you considered trying Norwoods new stellicut blades. I was talking to a Norwood rep at a show, and he claims that they work great. Every 3rd tooth was a stellulite tip welded on. He claims that he's milled for 11 hours on a blade without sharpening. Hard to believe, but it might be worth getting one to try.

The girls at Lumber Capital Log Yard just released a video yesterday about breaking so many blades also!!! It's almost seems like the steel itself has changed or the heat treatment done on the teeth, has made the blades too brittle!! Now that you welded the nut to use a torque wrench for tension, I am wondering if saving blades will come at the expense of straight cuts or if there will be a sweet spot for both to exist!!!
@BigelowWoodcraft
@BigelowWoodcraft 3 күн бұрын
I'm going to go check their video out. I'm wondering the same thing. Bad steel. Remember in the early 70s the steel in our cars were crap and rusted out, deteriorated in just a few years. Maybe the case. I've build a couple times with the welder and so far so good. Thanks Tim

People are idiots, they have either been gaslighted by the fake green agenda or are clueless about proper forestry practices. Good morning Mike. I'm still trying to figure this out and truly make sure it's not me. I added a nut to the handle and I'm using a torque wrench now. So far so good but I've only milled twice. Hey Jerry, I'm healing from Chile, well I have a OS23 and in my country frontier is not popular brand for sawmills and find spare parts was really hard at the beginning. So, i do 2 things, if the blade guides are thick enough I just use a metal file to even out the blade guide insert cubes to make them flat and smooth to insert. When I cannot keep using them, well I have to send them to a turner to be made. The turner knows about materials and how to make them resistant.

Hi Jerry Do you sleep in your bed either the ice machine wrap all night? Is there any restrictions when sleeping in your bed as far as which way you should sleep
@BigelowWoodcraft
@BigelowWoodcraft 4 күн бұрын
I slept with the ice machine only the first night. It got in my way of sleep. I slept any way I could get comfortable. I started on my back and over the course of a couple nights I found sleeping on my side with my surgical knee on top felt great. I used a pillow between my legs. I should have made a video about sleeping. There are restrictions about sleeping. Don't sleep with a pillow under your knee while flat on your back. If you're having extension problems, this will be a bit uncomfortable because your leg is straight. Sleeping on my stomach didn't happen until my staples were out. I didn't wear any sleeves on my knee. Best of luck.

It's hard with all the PT you have to do but when you rest make sure to have it elevated above your heart. I had a couple pillows on top of my lazy boy then my wedge. My foot was almost vertical. My wife would give me massages pushing the swelling up my leg. This helped a lot. Best of luck.

Oh boy the wife is gonna chew you out now. Sucks to be you when you get home limping along like an old man that thinks he is still in his 20s. Now that I think about it, I thought I heard an angry females voice far off to my west a few days ago. She isn't going to let you go out to play anymore if you keep that nonsense up. Best lay low and attack the honey do list for a week or so whilst you heal up. Then start out real slow. Like "honey I've got the dishes done can I go for an ATV ride out to the cabin?" Best ask real sweat and gentle like. You know, all the crap I just suggested doesn't work for me when I screw up. As the old saying goes, easier to get forgiveness than permission. I grew up running an old Super M TA. It had a belt pulley on it that we belted to an old Alice Chalmers silage blower. The silo was 60 feet tall and that M running full out would throw corn silage all day long and ask for more. We would load that AC blower till it was over flowing and hardly phase the M. Heck of a tractor for it's time. If you are still reading this long post then you need to get a life buddy 🤣😆

Hope you will be okay. FWIW, we have some steep land/driveway/roads and I am always afraid the PARK isn't going to work on my F350 and the tractor - so I always turn the wheel (of the truck) and leave the tractor in gear, with the front (and/or) rear blade down.. better to be safe than sorry.

I still have the 18hp Bolens garden tractor that my parents bought in 1975, and I still have the 16hp Bolens that I 1984 that I paid $3700 for!!! They were actually built "too good" so that they would never wear out, and therefore never need to be replaced!! Now those need an occasional engine swap and they're good for a few more years, not like new mowers that are junk and wore out in 5 years!! Hope your calf is doing better, and the lesson should be that we are getting to old to intervene, and need to let things happen because we hurt ourselves otherwise!!
