For the excercises you get a life vest and you will be able to finish all practical parts. But in general we recommend you take swimming classes. We do not offer such classes, but should be easy to find a school.

Dear Ryan, yes depending on the vessel and state of sea you need to balance while you are on a boat, but there is no course for it. Just must getting used to it and have some experience. Can the 24m limit be circumvented by registering the boat in a certain flag state? I really want to pilot a 30m yacht without any crew. All the systems are very simple and having extra crew doesn't really help in any way.

Dear Jim, if the boat is 30m any flag state will register it according to the length. Above 24m most flag states require a commercial yacht license like 200 GT and also a certain number of crew.
