I getting ready to turn an old 5 panel wood door into a desk but needed a desktop. After pricing out buying one, and getting up off the floor, I knew I would be making one. I found your video right away and I have enough woodworking skills to make this happen. Thanks so much for making the video and being clear on your instructions without mumbling! :) Looking forward to watching more soon!

Ok I've built the modular workbenches. They work great! However I do have an issue with them when latched in the 4x4 and 2x8 configuration. The wheels bang into each other when I try to move it in either of these configurations. I've looked into moving them but there isn't enough wood on the legs to cheat them over in any direction. Any thoughts? m.kzfaq.infoIWaEVxzJXIU

It’s a shame you’ve wasted your time here. That southern pine is going to warp like crazy. You’ll enjoy that box for maybe a week.

Nice video and nice planner, but the cost to build this is quite high with the price of pressure-treated lumber. 2x6x8 here are $7.58 and the 2x6x10 are $10.18 so to build one box is between $45 to $50, not sure what you would be able to sell them for today. Again nice project.

Another banger man, love you’re stuff. Question about working with pressure treated wood though. Is it true I have to wait a month after purchasing for it to dry out before it can be stained?

Is this still possible without a router table?
@gtcam723
@gtcam723 2 күн бұрын
I’m considering building something about 18-24” deep that has a table that can be folded down and have my miter saw attached to it since when it’s working mode it takes up a LOT of real estate.

I am planning on building this for an outdoor table. The table will be in a covered / screened area but obviously still subject to humidity. Is there such a thing as too many “ C” channel to prevent warp? BTW this will be in Central Florida. Should I bite the bullet (or wallet) and go with a proper hardwood? Thanks
@BearMountainBuilds
@BearMountainBuilds 2 күн бұрын
It's never a bad idea to use more metal C channels since they won't move. Comes down to if you think hardwood is worth the extra cost. If you're planning to use construction lumber I would make sure to put a stain and heavy coats of exterior spar urethane

Cool, but are pocket screws really strong wnough to bear the latetal load or did i miss something? Not a passive aggressive critique, im legit curious! I was always told they werent great for that kind of stuff.
@BearMountainBuilds
@BearMountainBuilds 2 күн бұрын
I personally think that pocket screws get a bad rap. I really like them and have never thought that they reduce the strength of a joint much if at all. I watched a youtube video where a guy compared all sorts of joints and he found that pocket screws were actually one of the stronger joints. I think there are a lot of old school woodworkers who decided they don't like them and will never change.

@@BearMountainBuilds Makes a lot of sense to me! I've used them a ton in the past just not for heavy duty loads; I'm building shelving in the basement and I'm going to try something modeled off this build so I'll try them. Thanks a ton for this, subbed to the channel!

You can grow food in pressure treated planters now. Back in the early 2000s they banned the use of arsenic in pressure treated lumber. You can also just grow in a pot too

Hello MR. BMB....quick question...why didn't you glue the bottom boards, especially since you want the bottom to be "rock solid"
@BearMountainBuilds
@BearMountainBuilds 5 күн бұрын
The bottom boards are the most at risk of falling apart from water damage so I don't glue them to make them easier to replace if needed years down the road

Nothing beats our pine planters that measure 900mm x 900mm x 450mm that we buy from a local scrap wood retailer for R30.00. That’s less than $1.75! Slap a bit of stain on there, and you’re good to go for 2 seasons. Nice build nonetheless! 😉
