I drove the counter shaft race in flush with inside of bell like in the video. Installed 2 shimms and dropped in the spacer i still have almost a 1/4 " left to shim for spacer to be close to flush with input shaft retainer. Do i need to drive the race in deeper?

Yes, some of the most recent items added to our portfolio are rear wheel hubs up to 2014 I believe. We evaluate requirements constantly, nut sure what is up next for Ford but we make lots of different parts now.

No crush sleeves, but if it's coming out it may be a good time to throw a rebuild kit at it anyway. The chains are rated at an average 150k life span...

Why are you installing a new ring gear on the Differential Carrier with what appears to be a broken off bearing boss?
@TorqueKingTVАй бұрын
Good eye! We don't do service, this was a core axle for video purposes only. All parts are reused, we have an excellent parts washing cabinet. After video completion, the axle is stripped and all unserviceable parts discarded and serviceable parts sold individually as used.

@TorqueKingTVАй бұрын
The tungsten tip can be resharpened until there is no stickout left, however we have not sharpened it since acquiring the machine a year ago. We mark thousands of items per year of various materials, I would say unless we brake the tip somehow it will last several years.

Is it possible to get the 3rd member to tight? I adjusted my bearing preload with that tiny tool and it took some pretty good leverage with my ratchet. Is it supposed to be that tight? I mean i did check overall pinion inch lbs after i finished and im sitting at 40inch pounds total from the pinion and 3rd member preload. I just dont want that 3rd member to tight. Might overheat if i got the preload on the third member to tight right?
@TorqueKingTV2 ай бұрын
You should be ok with pinion at 40, the diff adjustment should also be fine if you followed correct hole adjustment. The bearings end up getting preloaded several thousandths, so it is tight with the tool.

Way overboard on the sealant. I would never beat on a syncro hub with a metal pipe like that. Learn how to use heat and freezing. That stuff will fall on. It's called finesse.

There are several differences between the housings, but we have not gone through to see what is needed to convert a newer Dana 60 to a hub/spindle setup from older parts. There are conversion kits available though. torqueking.com/category/hub-kits-dynatrac-free-spin-1999-2004-ford/#y=777

Sure looks like the front to me unless you have a rear steer axle! Offset differential housing and knuckle "C" at each end of tube kind of give it away...

Never heard anyone call the outer baring race "cups", but I'm not saying it isn't a proper term either. I assumed the "cups" are what the outer bearing races went into? Also, what was the reasoning behind swapping out the tone ring? I couldn't see damage to it?
@TorqueKingTV3 ай бұрын
Actually, cup and cone is the terminology used by the bearing manufacturing industry for race/bearing.... Quite technical, but it all means the same thing. We removed the tone ring to show the process, but it is not required if in good condition.
