I love Dino and I love your reaction to his MV. You strive to notice EVERYTHING. For an extra special treat you can watch both of them 'teach' a class at 1Million Dance Studio. Also, Dino told the story of the making of the MV: Because of SVT's extremely busy schedule (end of Nov) they had to shoot it in a 26(?) hour span of time. Dino, being the considerate man he is, checked in on the director, Jooae Kim to see how he was holding up. And the director said he was good and that the process was "like a healing"🤗 That's our man, Dino.

I’m so glad you realized it was a heart! It was the same organ she had on the cart, but because you can’t see the valves well in the first shot everyone just thinks it’s brains. 😂 But yea, to add to what you already noticed, that scene is in an autopsy room, but it’s set like a glamorous dinner. Like watching her die and “attending” her funeral weren’t enough, they came to pick at the remains, like you said- vultures. The interesting thing is they’re picking through inedible things and not getting their fill. Because their focus is the glitz and glam of idol life, the jewels and the celluloid. Basically, they’re so intent on celebrating the facade and the ideal image rather than caring about the thoughts and feelings of a real human being. But that’s not satisfying enough because there’s no real substance to any of that. So she’s dressed as a coroner and she’s covered in blood implying she cut out the heart herself. She’s basically saying, ok fine here’s my heart if you want it so bad. Will that satisfy you? In the same room, the dance scene fits are very neutral colors, beige and gray. Her hair is kind of oily or wet. Like the way a cadaver would look in an autopsy room. There’s also the theme of self harm. The beginning shot with the cigarette is super intriguing. It’s a shot that’s an homage to a French film, about a woman who was demonized by her society. There’s a pivotal scene in the film where her hair changes to red, and she is holding the cigarette while everyone tries to help her light it. Like they’re trying to force her hand to hurt herself. Hwasa is a huge film buff, so not sure if this was her idea or the director’s, but they used that imagery to portray the same message. Later on you see her holding the scissors (which she never ends up using because you see the members show up to help her through it). And of course the crown of nails. Which leads to the next theme- Christianity. There’s lots of Christian symbolism, which of course works perfect with her name. There’s a running theme of her being a martyr- the crown, the people pushing her to her death. But there’s some subtle things as well. Like the bath is triangular, representing the holy trinity but also herself: Ahn Hyejin, Hwasa, and Maria. Later in the video when the beat breaks down you see the red haired maria dive into water, symbolizing a baptism. It’s her way of washing away all the hate and becoming a stronger, better version of herself. Not sure if you noticed, but all the scenes where she is playing the”dead Maria” she has her black hair. When she is baptized her new persona has red hair, and she begins challenging everything she was put through. She becomes the coroner. She dances freely in her red dress. She becomes fierce in her army camouflage. It took me a few watches to catch most these as well as some context from one of her interviews about the song and her album. Her word play, deep and introspective lyrics, and her powerful imagery in her videos are part of why she’s my bias. (Though Moon, Wheein, and Solar aren’t far behind to be fair. 😂)

You got me crying! The symbol on the bottom of the screen at the end is their logo. It’s a stylized version of their name, Mamamoo. 😂

I’m totally the same ways as you, girl! I hear something a first time and I hate the chorus or the main melody, or whatever it is. But then I listen to it again in a different mindset or in a different emotional state and it just hits in a whole new way. I wasn’t a huge fan of the brassy bit in this song at first. But it slowly grew on me and now I love it. And though it didn’t happen initially with this song for some reason, I’m the same way with repetitive sounds or choruses. I usually despise when songs just repeat a single word or small phrase for a chorus, or when the track is just the same few measures over and over with no variation the whole song. It grinds on my nerves. 😂 So you gotta be something amazing with the lyrics or the vocal content to tip the scales back the other way for me to like it. And Hip has both lyrical and vocal content (as per Mamamoo’s usual) so there was pretty much no chance I’d dislike this song in the end. It’s become one of my favorites.

Just in case no one explain the outfit concept for Mamamoo- they are a group that really celebrates their individuality and they had a really unique bond and dynamic with each other. So Moomoos often see them as like a family. A lot of fans would actually consider Solar and Moonbyul to be kind of the parents of the group (with them being the oldest and a lot of fans shipping them romantically). But here they each had a role and dressed accordingly. Solar was the mom (I like to think a soccer mom cause her dress kinda looks like it was made by Adidas 😂) Wheein wore a blazer dress as the dad, Moonbyul is the well mannered, studious golden child, and Hwasa is the rebel child. 😂 I agree, as an overall outfit I really don’t like what Moonbyul is wearing. But as part of the concept I love it.

The American/Canadian system is just awful - in Australia the system finds 'best available tickets' and you just click if you're happy with them, so you don't get the NO LONGER AVAILABLE thing. Plus for re-sale the price is capped and not far off the original price - I feel sad seeing what you guys go through. The downside to Aus is we don't get as many groups/solo coming here.
