'Arnold Layne' was inspired by a man in Cambridge where Syd,Roger and David grew up who stole women's underwear from washing lines. It was banned by the BBC in 1967! Syd is a great hero and was a well known in Cambridge where I live too. The Cambridge influence in Pink Floyd is enormous.
