The trick with the bottle is definitely really good. Just adding another Tipp/recommendation to it, if you want you can try out these electrical hand warmers (looking like little black flattened eggs, are rechargeable and if you place 2 of them in your sleeping bag on the lowest temperature option, it keeps you warm for the whole night.

Sort of a jerk move to start off by telling your viewers that you GUARANTEE that they are doing something wrong. It's better (and more mature and less disrespectful) to start by saying , "Do you know these camping skills?". Or "Have you tried these ideas?" People will appreciate this and won't think you are not condescending. Simple respect goes a long way, especially if you are suggesting things that most people already know.🙄

My tent has a gear loft, so that's where it goes as I can use it as an overhead light when needed.

So THIS is why hoes never get cold!
@Apoz

If you're sweating, that means you're cooling. So you don't need heat. But if you're stopping and getting cold because of redundant sweat, you want to avoid sweat. That's why they invented hexair-pockets. they are kind of like a mesh layer, but deflated during the hike. When you are pausing or transitioning into stillness, you push the pump a couple of times and it inflates the hex layer, creating an air layer between your skin and the sweaty clothes. Best of both worlds :)

Socks don't dry on the outside of the pack in most cases. Pillows should never be left at home unless you have tried sleeping on your clothes already. Headlamp is a security device for your safety and should *never* be left at home.

If you were a real ultralight hiker you wouldnt even bring gear, just hike up and drink from the streams, no shoes or clothes either cuz those are taking up precious grams of weight, make sure to also lose as much muscle mass as possible too since its not worth carrying it all with you. Thats how I, a true ULTRA light hiker does it

Why are you pitching your tent on live vegetation? It only adds to the condensation at night and in the morning.

But am I supposed to be adjusting the height constantly DURING my walks😲? I'm not likely to find a consistently flat or uphill terrain.

Not really a tent tip, more of a sleeping tip for those that get cold feet. I always keep a dry pair of extra heavy wool socks in the same dry bag as my sleeping bag. I do not use these for hiking. Same idea as keeping down booties for sleeping, but not everyone is going to buy a pair of down booties. In the morning, I just toss the socks back in the dry sack with my sleeping bag so they are always dry and right where I need them.

The trash bags aren’t a good solution. They tear on the first trip. I’ve made sacks out of old denim jeans, pillow cases ect. Imo, plastic is never a good choice.

Bro, you are practically a Filipino! All the tips you shared are very relatable. Even the first tip is spot on. We always double waterproof our bags. We put our things in ziplocks, then put them in a big plastic bag before putting them in our bag. Haha!

not really a gear myth but a distance covering myth and common sense, if you go faster with breaks you will cover more distance - FALSE - if you go continuously at a pace you enjoy, and can keep a conversation at, and hike for 10 hours, you will of course cover more distance than a trail runner travelling for 4 hours at a faster pace

Mmm Don’t know: I wouldn’t recommend to sip your tea straight from the pot as you showed, your lips will get in contact with soot…not a good idea! Neither is healthy, according to medical literature, to cook in aluminum foil! Be safe!

The most dangerous animal in Germany is a wild boar. Sounds ridiculous, but those animals have very sharp teeth, they are fast and they are heavy. Now the good part: wild boars usually run away when they smell humans. The biggest mistake anyone can make is getting between a mother and their offspring. If they have young cups, they will do ANYTHING to protect their offspring. This is the case between February and May. That being said: I never encountered a wild boar in Germany so far, and I've been living here for 40 years, so...

I think that that was a very good experiment to do but the thermogenic effect of eating food can skew the results a bit. For someone like me, eating carbs especially can be the difference in being cold without a shirt in ambient air temperature of ~12 degrees vs ~18 degrees. It wasn't clear how much of a meal you ate but it could have a bit of a factor in the experiment.
